I am looking to upgrade my stock transmission before going for bigger power. I was wondering if anyone in the Colorado area knew of a good shop to rebuild/build up my 2005 48RE.

Thanks in advance for the input.

If you're going to be adding a bit of power and want a serious one built ATS is in Denver. Or call Dave at Goerend (St. Lucas, IA) and talk to him about people he deals with. He will only put his stamp on a transmission shop after he's spent time talking with them and ensuring they aren't some shade tree mechanics and his trans are top notch.

I'll second calling Dave - - - and using the Goerand transmissionand having a local shop install the rebuild - - -had plans of going to Iowa and having my 06 done like he did my 01 - - Goerand doesn't do installs any more - - -took all the lifts out to make more room for production. Hate it when that happens!

Thanks. I will call Dave and talk to him about getting a rebuild from him. I will also ask him about a local shop he would recommend. I have heard mixed reviews about ATS, but everything I have heard about Goerend, has been great.

Thanks again.

You will like ATS as well. Especially since you are sorta local. Most of the complaints I hear about ATS are parts that need to be warrantied and ats wants you to pay to have the part sent to them or drive to ATS.

FWIW... I recently put an ATS in a friends truck and the price was AMAZING.

I have a goerend... but wouldnt hesistate to do an ATS, personally.

Hate to hear that but glad I got mine done when I did. I'm less than 400 miles away from Goerend and drove down to drop my truck off for the install and have

had zero issues since. Dave is definitely a knowledgeable guy and will definitely get you situated if that's the route you choose. I would have driven to Denver if

he hadn't been closer.

I dont recommend ATS at all... trans does not work right, nor ever will, until they change the way they operate 1st to 2nd shifts and does not compare to suncoast in any way, shape, form, or color. I have had PLENTY of customers use there trans' and had all unhappy when they road in a suncoast truck. MY opinion is not just mine, but also based off of x employees. Not tryin to start any problems, wish it wasnt that way as they are technically local and use to do warranty work for them, not anymore, never again. I have heard nothing but good about gorend, but will recomend suncoast every time. If you need help with any decisions or install or purchasing, will be glad to help. My engine builder (Geddes Auto Machine) is in the springs and am regularly sending things back and forth. we will be glad to help.

I have a similar opinion. Several years ago when I was RV transporting a fellow transporter had ATS build a "built" transmission for an '05 Ram. It was never right and broke down on him numerous times all over the country. To their credit, ATS tried several times to get it right but failed and ultimately cut him off refusing to do any more for him. He lost so many paying loads he went broke, had the truck repo'd, and filed bk.

I hear the same stories about ATS... but for every bad story I hear a good. I hear less bad about the others, but my experience with them has always been positive. Their price hasnt ever been close to touchable by the others for me either.

Of all the ones Ive installed for others, or helped install... the only two that have had problems were goerend and BD. The goerend was a VB problem, dave sent a new one immediately and the whole trans is a different/better animal. The BD one just sucked, and it was replaced with a goerend. I havent done a ton, but ~4 ATS's, 3 goerends, the BD, 2 DTT's and then a few tc/vb upgrades. Ive never had experience with a suncoast, I would like to give them a shot though.
