I had the Aeroturbine 4040XL, it sounded awesome, really deep and throaty, scared children when you fly by, but it was too loud and I drive around LA all day, it was also expensive, I think I paid $250 for it. I switched it to Rokktech Silent Might, and it sounds very similiar just not as loud, but still has the straight through design, so no restriction, so far I am happy with it, alot louder than stock and you can hear the Cummins growl. I still have the Aeroturbine in my shed, I would be willing to sell cheap if anyones interested.

P. M. sent to you

I have the 5" turbo back MBRP and love it, yes it is loud and you cany hear the turbo through the exhaust (but i have no problem hearing it through the intake) and I guess some may say when you are running it hard it sounds raspy, I say it sounds mean! I also love setting off car alarms as O drive by :-laf

my '04 had a 5" MBRP on it when I got it... granted, the truck has twins on it, so I dont' need a muffler, but when I took the muffler off (which was buzzing and falling apart BTW) the sound of the turbos out of the tailpipe was about 10 times louder.

packed mufflers on 3rd gen make them sound like souped up Acuras or something :(

I may need to start a new thread on this, but who makes the best 5 inch stainless 304 exhaust? This will be in a twins application. Thanks, Jason. .

Yes the walker is a direct bolt on. It Is a 4inch muffler on each side so you can either bolt it on via a band-clamp or you can have it welded on which is the route I took.

Yes I have towed with the walker ... . almost every weekend. I am pulling between 8k and 12k. The muffler only has a drone when I am full throttle for example pulling up a hill. The drone is only bad in a very small RPM range. Empty I have zero drone. I hope this helps.

3rd vote.

I have an Aeroturbine 5050xl (5"in/out w resonator)
it is still loud but it is much less harsh!

4th
excellent sound/performance

I was standing behind it the other day while getting new rubber put on and the sound was awesome as they moved it over the jacks in the changing bay. Cant really hear it in the cab.

Another option $$$

Donaldson... look up threads on them, $92 at the local big rig store. Very cheap and a nice crisp sound without giving up in cab noise. Much less drone in the cab when pulling our 11K 5th wheel trailer. By the way no cat and 4" down pipe from turbo into a 4'-ish piece of pipe leading into a 5' muffler before jumping over the rear axle with a 5" tip.

Hi, new here and found this thread. I have an '04. 5/600 and am contemplating a 4" straight exhaust, removing the catalytic and muffler altogether. Will this hurt any settings? Will it be TOO loud? Any advice would be appreciated. The truck has 93K plus on it right now.

Thanks

I know it's been a long time, but is your AT4040XL still for sale?
