I'm experiencing an off-idle stall or stumble condition on launch that is manifested as severe turbo lag. Several knowledgeable TDR members have suggested what I didn't want to hear: VP-44. (147k odometer. Stock except 275 injectors and NAPA tractor muffler. Fleetguard fuel filters/10k) I suppose it could also be a failing turbo (never shutdown hot) or faulty APPS, MAP sensor, or even, possibly, something as inexpensive as a Manifold IAT sensor.

If it turns out to be an injection pump or turbo I'll be grumbling and reaching for my (light) wallet. I know of a couple of MOPAR dealers that offer deep discount prices to internet buyers and plan to contact them Tenafly in NJ and MOPAR4Less in Farmington, NM come immediately to mind. I think I remember TDR members posting names of Cummins dealers that offer discounts to internet or out of state telephone buyers. Can anyone provide the name and contact info for Cummins dealers who discount prices? After thinking about it some I think I'll feel more comfortable laying out a little more money and getting a parts warranty rather than the absolute lowest price.

Any advice or information will be appreciated.

Dennis:

Thanks. I checked with Diesel Injection Service. They are a well respected shop but did not invest in the very expensive equipment required to test and rebuild the 24 valve electronic pumps. I was told they can get a rebuilt pump with a one year unlimited miles warranty for $1340.
