Here's my answer.
Last Monday, 8/20/01, I was priviledged to observe the installation of a
complete Bill K. transmission installation in my '96 3500.
I was extremely fortunate in that my trans was built by Bill K. himself (as all are) however, my good fortune was extended in the fact that on the day my trans was being built (Yes Bill, it's only rear wheel drive), there was a man (Herb, from Kustom Truck) in Yuba City, CA going through training on Bill's transmissions. Herb brought my trans home.
He offered to bring my trans to CA. and then he offered to open his shop on a normally closed day to install it.
Can you guess what my answer was?
Lessee, new trans.
EXTREMELY knowledgeable and qualified mechanic in a shop that doesn't have to answer the phones because they are closed. (Sorry Herb and Dale but, I just had to add that. ) On top of all that, Herb has just i repeat
just, graduated from Bill's training. It was almost like Bill K. himself installed it.
OK, here's the go fast stuff. Herb and I ran the required test passes, for throttle valve positioning etc.
Here's the good part!!!!! I left Herb's shop, driving as I normally would, I turned right at the light and
smoked the tires down the street. \
Bill K. , I think we need to talk about just who is gonna pay for my rear tires. Without your trans, no tire smoke. With your trans, tire smoke. I think you owe me a set of tires. (I wish

)
Now let's talk about how this transmission tows. After putting the trailer on 34' TRIPLE SLIDE 14k, and hitting the (Oh, my GOD), "GO" pedal; all I can say is, I need to have it pointed in a safe direction because when the turbo and trans come together, it is gonna go where ever it's pointed, kinda like a rocket.
Am I happy? WOW. What can I say but,
WOW. Bill K. , if you're ever in the Central Valley of CA around the middle or end of October, call me as I want to buy a beverage of your choice.
THANKS
