2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Best Tires for mileage HELP

I am looking for new tires @ this time and have read several Threads and Posts,

Im looking for a High Mileage Tire and $ is no object, I rarely see the mud or snow eventhough I have a 4X4, but Tow 2x's a year if that, been looking @ Michelin's AT/2's and BFG Commercial, I curr. have 285's and will be dropping back down to 265's

Get online at Consumer reports and find the tires with the least rolling resistance. I went through that awhile back and came up with the Michelin's that came on it when it was stock followed by something from BFG.

If you want the best FUEL mileage go back to the

old - TALL and NARROW - that will be the norm in a few years I'll bet... ... unless you have $$$ to burn. .

Nitto has a new tire out which is designed for the guys who want their tires for milage and better wear. Its called the "Dura-Grappler" and kinda looks like the old Michelin X radials which came on the first genners way back and lasted forever. Not sure what the wear would be like yet since they are new but it seems like many are raving about them... ... . Andy

Has anyone ever used the Michelin XPS RIB 245/75/16 on a 4X4?

I seen reviews on a few Websites where these last 90K plus.

I have Michelin 265 M/S on my truck now. I had the Michelin 265 A/T tires on before this. I had over 150,000 miles on the old set but went to the M/S because there are more Sipes in the tread and should get better wet grip. I have a 94 auto 2 WD and have gotten 19. 6 MPG over the last 190,000 miles, hand calculated, mostly commuting to work, some towing of the boat to the lake etc. I am happy with these tires and spent the $$ to put new ones on

Just don't use the LTX A/T on ice or snow. They never seem to wear out in the dry but they are terrifying near freezing or below.

I put on a set of Michelin LT245/75R16 LTX M/S back in 2002 and so far have over 112,000 miles on them. The tires still have around half of the tread left. They aren't a good mud tire but if most of your driving in on the highway, they're pretty good.

Im wondering if the M/S gets longer tread wear than the, A/T 2's

I've just been considering the ATX A/T the last few days but now I'm like OMG. I don't need these tires as I run winter snow all the time.

Hey all,



I posted a similar thread a year or so ago. I was going through tires (Michelin, Firestone, Dean, Wild Country)about every 25,000 miles (local driving conditions here eat tires and brakes). On the advice of some old horse hauler friends of mine I tried a set of Toyo m55's. I looks like I'll get about 50,000 out of these tires. Sure wish I could get over 100,000 like some of you, but I guess 50K isn't so bad.

A lought of the over the road drivers use Michelin on the frunt axle. They ware like iron also on the drivers. I would go with Michelins---BEN---

I just purchased the AT2's 265's they are Smooth, so Basically I have a Quiet tire on a truck that has 5Inch Straight and HTT 62/14, and stage 1 intake,



Will update when I get a few K on them. wish me luck.

I still have the original Michelin 265 LTX A/T's that came on the truck with 68,000 on the odometer. I figure there's another 15,000 left in them. I don't do much snow driving so when these wear out I'll replace with the same .

update,

I ran to HAndersons Mansion on Sunday, and got round trip door to door, 20MPG. hand calculated,

WOW I was excited, it finally paid off, all these years changing, Injectors 5 Times, Exhaust 4 times, 5 Sets of tires, Intake 4times.



Am I the only one that has done all of these trials and errors? and Man, what kinda $ have I WASTED and time doing that?

I really dont wanna think about it, its depressing, so if I had to do it again...
