who has the cheapest best torque converter for towing mostly stock truck 5. 9 12v 98 47re? rod

My advice is to go find some trucks with different converters and DRIVE them.

Form your own opinion.

I have friends with different converters than mine, they have been in mine and ask why it runs so much better than thiers. It does come down to the fluid coupling of the particulars of each vehicle.

Friends claim 100 more HP than mine and mine walks away from them. Is mine the best for sled pulling of drag racing? No. But I don't do that with it. It is a driver and for trailer tow.

There are a lot of converters out there that no one has ever heard of that are good, Mojave Green is one. One of your specifications was cheap or cheapest, Goerend is one of the best but also one of the most expensive. I am looking for an affordable good converter also, I keep hearing "you get what you pay for" I am afraid that with some converters "you don't get what you pay for".

fox, what brand is yours and what is its rated stall? single disc? rod

I have a DTT 89h

I can stall it up to 1800.

Remember each truck will/may have a different stall.

Stall is described in many different ways too.

Brake, flash, are two of them.

My truck should dyno at about 450. Some claim much higher, but I don't think so.

I can drive ( if I want to) for months and not get much over 2000 rpm. This is lifting at each shift point because they are set to up shift about 2,000rpm.

It is a single clutch converter and has held it fine for 130,000 miles. This converter is not the weak point of my trans.

It drops about 200-250 at lock-up in normal driving, a little more with a trailer of course.

I have pulled 15,700 lbs plus truck. Ussually it is a flat trailer with a suv or tractor on it.

+1 for DTT, 95,000 miles and I am still impressed with how well it works. Dodge should build them this way. I also have the 89.
