Competition any 3rd gens with an HX55??

Competition Big Single's what's a good choice

Gene and Justin:

As I recall, Scott Amos is also running an ATS TripleLok Converter in

his "Hummin Cummins" Dodge CTD Dually too! I am 99% sure that

Van put that in his truck also. He always seems to run well at the

events I have attended. Very nice guy too! I met him through

Kent Crowder a few years ago. I can't remember what class he

runs though??

When van ran in the street class he was running a 6 speed. Kurt used to run an automatic in his, but they since have converted it to a 6 speed

Justin and zstroken:

Sorry for the mix-up on my post! I should have been more clear

with my english. I was wanting to say that I was 99% sure that

Van Haisley installed an ATS TripleLok Torque Converter in Scott

Amos' "Hummin Cummins" Dodge Diesel Dually. However, I can't

remember what pulling class Scott Amos ran his truck in.

My apologies... ... ... ... ... .....

Zstroken,

Go back and read my post.

THEY USE A 2003 OR 2004 DODGE TO PULL ROCK HARD RAM (I know its a manual with a reverser) AROUND TO THE PULLS (hence they dont drive rock hard to pull from home :-laf ) ALONG WITH THE GATOR ON THE GOOSENECK THAT PULLS ROCK HARD RAM OUT TO THE LINE!!

YOUVE GOT TO HAVE A PULLER FOR YOUR PULLER!

I know Rock Hard Ram is a manual... . Thanks for the news.

I'm getting a lot of this: #ad
and I think some of this: #ad

Pretty soon I'm foreseeing this: #ad
and in the end I'm thinking this thread is going to be this: #ad

I pulled all last year and my convertor is doing fine, I have no plans of changing it either! Some of the local pulls here let me use NOS for exibition runs and still no problems at all with the convertor. This year I'm hoping to make as many of the pulls as posibile to show off the DTT stuff can take it and then some but as fast as this buisness is growing I'm not sure how many I can make it too.

from what I have seen the ats is great but stalls much higher than the georend bros. . not really ideal for driving ,but great in pulls. very close pm me if your in the area be glad to meet up. haisley is a close shop that does trannys , great people.

funny you should mention Dave georends converter being to tight. if you ask him to build a trick triple and tell him the stall speed you want it can be done. i told him how i used mine and it was built to fit, and it fits like a glove. sleddy are you getting at something about dave's converters with that "sigh..... " i was wondering you take on them, fill us in oh wise one?

I did say tight. I like that if your using the truck to drive as well. I do not prefer the higher stall on the street. but thats just an opinion. we all know how many of those there are.

Especially when it comes to transmissions!

:-laf

But Trannys are so FUN to discuss! It's amaizing how people can get so heated about something so trivial, and unable to be proven! :p

 I thought the billet shafts was something that the big three vendors agreed on  I'm guessing Goerend feels it is on unnecessary expense.

When I have talked to Dave, he hasn't felt it nessissary to put in Billet shafts unless you are going to absolutely ABUSE the transmission(locked converter and shift), or are at some pretty high HP ranges. Again, last I talked with him, last spring, he had multiple trucks in the 600hp range sled pulling every weekend and they had yet to break a stock shaft. He did say when he put those trannys together, they got all NEW shafts, but they were stock shafts.

Josh

I had been talking to one of Dave's customers before I went with the DTT. He was breaking shafts like crazy in a twin turbo truck just by jumping on the throttle at low speeds. I believe he was from indiana. That was one of the main reasons I went with DTT is Dave not liking the billet shafts. I tried to save money initially and just went with a billet input shaft and hub and I promptly snapped the output shaft on about the 2nd 10 pound launch with the truck. I don't see how a high hp, high tq truck could ever sled pull with stock shafts and live for long. And there is no way you will be able to launch hard at the track and that is where the majority of the shafts are breaking not at the gear change. Go with whatever brand suits you but I wouldn't think of doing a high dollar transmission without billet shafts if I was going to compete in any type of event with the truck.

I won't argue mcoleman... . If I get going with my truck and start pulling... . I'm going to go with a Billet input and intermediate shaft. I won't go full billet... . You need to have some sort of fuse in that thing. The output is a pretty quck and easy one to change. The input is a pain..... and the intermediate... . well if it goes... . you may as well find a new transmission. I like Daves ideas, and I will voice what he has told me. For a daily driver, stock shafts are fine. If you are Sled Pulling... I honestly think... depending on the track, you should be OK with stock shafts in a softer track. A VERY hard track like Muncie was, you may have problems. I have pulled a couple of times, one was a pretty soft track, the other hard enough to squeal and smoke the tires at the end. I'm still running stock shafts... and I haven't had any problems..... But I'm not at a "high" power level yet.
