I went through the 114 (1990 model pump), and installed it on the 92, and while it is a slight improvement over the original 205 on there, I am still not happy with it. The last rebuild I got locally started to decline after 8 mo or so. I was going to pull it and take it back, but sold the truck befroe I could get to it. They kinda shied away fro replacing all the springs, etc unless they were broke- just wanted to do seals and reflow it. I noticed upon reassembly that the pum pI refreshed had some definite slack inside. So, besides the big name outfits in the links section, who else has had good work done by a shop they know of? MMiller? Bill? I want to keep it under $750 if possible, but that also depends on what needed done. All the springs and possibly DVs will get done.

I just got my truck back from rebuild. I had Rocky Mountain Injection Greyly CO build mine and so fare i am happy with work. I had them install a 3000 gov spring wile in the pump. i did have a leak after driving home however, they were vary fast at getting the truck back in and fixed that day. truck came back with stock settings fuel, pin, etc but I emagine this is to cover own. total cost installed ended up 1k. More than i wanted to spend, but after pricing all options plus install, i am satisfied. side note they didn't threaten to void warranty if i put pump back to old settings.

Thanks. I had forgotten all about them. I have talked to them, though it was some time ago, and they seemed to know their stuff. If I remember right, they do their work in-house.

I'l have to look them up.

like your signature- for me it was a (any) high schrewel teacher, though.

RMI quote me 1200 and my bill was 1000. thats a first. yes all work is dune in house. and considering all the hard/soft parts that were replaced i think they did an excellent job

I took my '91. 5 W-250 to Diesel Performance Center, Inc. (800-279-5169) in Aug. 1999. They "removed & calibrated pump" for $310. 00. Not a rebuild.

The difference from stock, w/screw turned up, was dramatic, to say the least. The engine now redlines at about 3100 rpm's. Smokes when given fuel, quite a bit, & has much more power.

The "calibration" & the 16 sqcm. turbo housing made a big difference. Much more so than other mods.

Compared to fuel screw mods, this made a huge difference.

This guy has a very good reputation, around the Phoenix area. Many of the performance shops use him for the fuel pump rebuilds & mods. He has a "clean room" full of machinery, each of which is dedicated to a certain pump. Pump work is his specialty. Doesn't do much else.

Don't know if anyone else is interested in using him but, I sure wouldn't hesitate. One of the few things that I did for any vehicle that really gave me "bang for my buck".

Called RMFI today, talked to Pat, and they werent too interested in giving me 120cc; stock + 10% was about it (that'd be around 85-90cc). Said I'd lose economy with more fuel than that. He said there isnt too much they can do as far as internal upgrades and settings. ALso said it'd take more than 40hp injectors and pump work to reach 275-300hp. I was under the impression of 1psi= ~10hp. I can hit 30psi now... .....

Buffalo, how much was your pump turned up? Any idea, or did he even tell you?

Wentland Diesel in Milton-Freewater built mine 5 years ago and I am extreemly happy with it - look at my numbers. I did wait until the warranty was up before I installed Old Smokys power pin and had a 3200 GSK installed then started my own "abuse" of it.

dpucket,

Sorry, but I can't tell you how much he turned up the pump. The only thing he told me was that he "recalibrated" the pump. I felt like he didn't want to give out any "trade secrets". He did say that one of the things involved with recalibration is balancing the flow of fuel to each of the injectors. So, each injector gets the same amount of fuel. He did raise the "redline" to about 3100 rpm's (from 2600). I tried questioning him but, he did not want to "give away" any more information, than that.

I do know that the seat of the pants feeling shows A LOT more power & smoke. I'm VERY HAPPY with the outcome. Made a world of difference. However, I worry about the excessive amount of smoke, sometimes (although, it's come in handy, occassionally).

Here in parts of AZ, we have to "emissions test" our vehicles, annually. Every year, my '91. 5 passes. They always test the truck at least two or more times but, always let me through.

The test is an opacity test. The limit is 40 & this year I was at 21. However, some years, I've been at 39. 9. One time, they couldn't get a reading & just let me go. There ability to get an accurate reading seems to be in question. Many people think the testing is just a money-making venture, for the state.

Try PDR. They rebuilt my good core to our agreed-upon specs.

Still doing well after 30k miles.
