I pulled the radiator in my 02 to clean the oil off and will replace hoses, belts, thermostat, water pump and tensioner pulley.
The coolant looked good but I would like to flush the block as well.
Since everything is off could I just run a hose into the thermostat housing with the truck running and let it drain out the bottom radiator hose fitting?
If this won't work what's a better way of flushing the block?

If the old AF is not all rusty and crappy, there probably isn't much junk in there that needs to be flushed. When I did my 2001, I just drained it, removed the stat, filled it back up with water and drove it around a bit. Drained it again, put the stat back in, 50/50 distilled water and AF. The inside of the rad tank looked like new the day I sold it......
