Best way to remove scratches on a 3rd gen dash?

I have some small scratches on the plastic behind the gear shift that I would like to "fix. " Any ideas?

I have seen car audio installers use a heat gun and basically heat brush the affected area to get the surface to re-krinckle. Might be worth a shot if its scratched up anyway. My only suggestion would be to exercise patience and caution.
