i give up!!!!!

just installed my DDII's yesterday and my number 6 fuel line is leaking like a siv. i removed the head lift bracket and cut my 19mm wrench in half but i cant get the torque i need! i installed 275's myself and i ddont know how i got that line tight enough. i have to wait till tomorrow till the engine cools to try to get a better angle at it. if ya guys have any ideas, please let me know. i'm tired of burning myself and getting no where. thanks..... james.....

James,

I have what Steve has. A 19mm crow's foot and a 3/8 torque wrench along with all lengths of extensions to use.

If you want to swing by the house tomorrow night , I can give you a hand to try to tighten it. I have no 24 Valve experience.

I use a crowsfoot that is built like a deep well socket. The standard crowsfoot doesn't seem to fit in there very well and you can't get much of a turn on it.

SnapOn sells them

I'd suggest that your local chapter buy one to share. If you all kick in a few dollars and then appoint one of your members, who is always available, to keep track of the thing, it won't hurt your BOMB savings too badly.

All I ever use is an offset 19mm, and a 19mm shorty. No crows feet needed... I've done dozens of sets of injectors, and have not had a leak yet. :D

Where is it?

Hey Charles I can't find that on the Snap-on site. Where would I find this socket? Does anybody else but Snap-on sell these? Mucho dinero

Excellent question Ramhead. I have another question for you guys. Is there a formula to re-calculate the ft. lbs. when using a crows foot? Is it necessary to re-calculate it?

John, I like that socket. What does snap-off nick you for on that thing?

Thanks,

Tom

tmacc, you shouldn't have to take into account the crow's foot when calculating torque. I found a reference while searching for information on these tools that tells how to calculate torque when using an extension. I will post it as a separate topic. The link is below the text. The price of that socket is somewhere between 50-72 bucks:eek: Why the range, you ask? Because I went to the Snap on site and saw two different prices for the same socket. Anyway, according to Evan Beck and some others, the socket isn't really necessary, nor is the crow's foot. I'm trying to figure out where to get a 19mm crow's foot. Wouldn't mind having one as long as they are not to expensive. Geez, I should have bought a Yugo:rolleyes: :p :D

I got a set of SK tools flare nut crow foot from Mobile tools for

around $90. 00 delivered. This is a 10 piece set (10 mm to 19mm)

I don't have their number today, but I can find the info when I get home. I've also seen this set at Napa in Moab, Utah around the same price.

Snap on's are very expensive.
