I am looking for a wheel to wheel stainless steel nerf bar for my truck. I have looked at the Putco Boss Bars and like them, but find they only hold 400 pounds max. What if I have two guys getting in at the same time from work and their total weight is between 400 and 500 pounds! Are there any better models out there?

I do not want to do any drilling and want something that is solid and looks good.

Thanks,

Mark H

I'm also wondering about nice wheel to wheel bars for my new dually. The Putco's look good in pictures and I've also seen pictures of the Wilmore and XL bars. Anyone having problems with any of these brands rusting over time? One winter with my generic brand on my old truck and they were all rusty. Is the best price for Putco's through truckstuffusa? I tried calling to check if it was free shipping and no one ever picked up. Cost on the Putco's through one of our distributors at work is 15 bucks higher not including tax and free shipping. Looking to hear any comments on dually style bars.

Truck stuff USA is the best price for teh Putcos and shipping is free. I like them, but wonder if there is any better ones out there, which is the reason for the first post.

So any thoughts on Kyle's and my questions?

I have had my 4" Boss Bars for 2 years now, no rust or corrosion, but I have had to re-glue both the step pads and the end caps back on.

I purchased mine from realtruck.com, free shipping. Hope that helps!

I don't know about the official weight rating. In my experience they are very stout. Strong enough to stop a Suzuki Samurai with only a small dent in the outer side of tube. The tube is still true, end to end.

I just ordered Mega Steps from www.luvernetruck.com for my Father in law's '06 1500 QC. They do have a wheel to wheel version for a 3500, but not really a dually. They are drill-less though. I know it's not ecactly what you were looking for, but I thought you might be interested.

I have purchased 2 sets from Truck Stuff USA, they do provide free shipping. I have not had rust or corrosion on either set (oldest set has been through 2 winters). I silicone the end caps on when I installed them because it didn't seem like a tight enough fit for me but I have not had any other problems. The mounting is very solid, I would feel comfortable having 2 people with a combined weight of 500 lbs using mine.

How well do you like them and are they solid?

My XL's are holding up well. No rusting or corrosion (of course, they ARE supposed to be stainless steel).

I've never had two big guys on them at the same time, but I can say that I stand on teh rear end (the unsupported end) of the steps to reach my fiver release lever and breakaway cable and I'm 225# They don't move even standing on the very ends.

When I see Wilmore and XL bars, I can't seem to find them for the 2006 Ram 3500 Quad Cab. Even on Wilmore Mfg's site, they don't list them for newer models. How do they mount - by the cab bolts, rocker panel cutouts, ect. ?
