i seem to have the worst luck w/ wiper blades. they just never seem to work as well as i would like.

well, the girlfriend just got a new acura tsx and me being the car dork that i am, i noticed how well her wipers worked. so, i ordered two driver's side wipers from acura (passenger side is a lot smaller) and put them on my truck. honestly, they work better than any wiper i have ever seen. the wiper is all one piece, w/ no hinges and also has a small wind deflector built into it. absolutely no chatter, doesn't lift at highway speeds or anything of the sort. i'm not sure what the list price is on them but i'm sure that they are well worth it. if anyone is interested, the part # is 76620-SEA-G11. its actually a honda part #.

no kidding, best ever!

I just got a very similar set of Bosch (ICON I think) wipers from checker. Seem to work well, though I have not really "tested" them yet.

I was not happy with my Bosch--they failed early. There was some sort of warranty, but I lost the box and the receipt. Seems that no matter what high quality blades I use, I finally get a streak on the driver's side that is just at my eye level--right where it flares in the oncoming headlights (and no it is not the windshield, cause this is second windshield... must just be my karma). BTW, on my Ford several years ago, I ran triple blades with some sort of Euro-trash wind wing to hold em down. Ha ha, they saw me coming on that sale! Where do you buy PIAA's? A discount auto store, or a specialty parts place?

thanks,

david

The darn crows keep eating mine on the old truck. :( (Wouldn't have beleived it until I saw it happen) I'm glad they only mess with the old truck and not the new one. Maybe black is their color? They like the stack?

I'm tired of the wildlife attacks on my plow truck. I noticed some critter has torn up my vaccuum lines to the front axle disconnect again too.

i personally never had any luck w/ the bosch's either. however, these wipers from acura are along the lines of bosch's new icon. if that is the case, then hopefully they'll work just as good as these ones i have and they can be purchased just about anywhere.

The PIAA's look cool. What size fits our Megacabs? I couldn't find a spec in the service manual, and when I measured the blade it was more than 23" and less than 24".

And are you advocating the Bosch blade with a PIAA refill, or the PIAA blade & refill?

i've had the bosh icon's on for over 6 months now. best blade i've ever used. no chatter at speed and are sill wiping clear. they were pricy but well worth it. time will tell how the stand up in the north east winter!

I have had no luck with bosch either they have not even made it 6 months and I have tried a couple of sets, what I did do though is I went up a full size blade from stock it wipes all the way to the visible top of the windshield realy nice. I am just using cheap blades now and replacing them every 6 months still cheaper to that than the bosch...

It says to clean the windshield then add the packet of (silicone?) and spread it over the windshield--instructions and other info at the link above.

Ok guys,

I have two questions: first I noticed on the PIAA website they say to replace blades once or twice a year. Is this fairly standard? If so maybe that's my problem cause I keep my wipers at least two years.

Second; there is a few options of PIAA blades, is the Super Silicone the best choice?

thanks,

david

My girls '06 Pontiac G6 has some really neat wipers. They are quite different looking from traditional wiper blades. There are no frames, like our wipers have. When you ift the blades off the windscreen, such as to clean the glass the blades sort of go limp (hard to explain) anyway I've driven her car in the rain a few times, they work better than any set of wipers I've ever used and better yet they don't chatter and are whisper quiet in operation. I have an '05 2500 Ram and I've replaced the cheap OEM's twice. I will have to look at my girls G6 next time I see it and figure out if they would work on a Ram or not?

These are what the OEM G6 blades look like.

The silicone blades are their best blade. If you do not get the windshield totaly clean before you use the new silicone blades it leaves streaks where the bugs or dirt was not cleaned off. PIAA says to run the wipers dry for a few minutes before your get the windshield wet. The blades leave a coating on the windshield that is like having RainX on it. I had them on my 03 for three years with out replaceing them. I was parked out side all of it's life so I do not if I would replace them every year.

I put on a set of Trico Innovision about a year ago. They are the same design as the ones posted by rjohnson916. They were absolutely stealth quiet until a couple weeks ago and I have noticed a little chatter until good and wet. They have performed very well in the Houston rain and heat. At around $24 a set I will probably replace with the same thing if the chatter gets worse. They still perform well, just need to get fully soaked it seems to quiet down now.

those are almost exactly like the ones from the tsx. they do work great!

I have used PIAA blades & really did like the way they cleaned with no streaks, chatter, or squeeks but... . maybe because we get so much slush with road grit in it they just did not last long enuf to justify the cost. I dont know what brand they are but I still have original blades on my Acura RSX, 33,000 miles but they are now due for a change guess I will go OEM
