Last night I did a 3 hour drive on a four lane highway (2 lanes each way) I was travelling probably 130kms/hr @ 2100 rpm. Now I haven't done any refil and calculations yet but based on what they fuel guage shows me I swear that my truck got better mileage at this rpm than it usually does at say 1750 - 1800 rpm. Can this be right? From what I've read the most efficient rmp ranges are usually between 1600 and 1800.

comments anyone??

Mine gets the best mileage at 2100 as well, especially while towing. It also seems to be the sweet spot as far as EGT's go as well.

The best way IMO to get consistant mpg figures is to fill your tank all the way up the filler neck to where you can see it . Run your tank down and refill it to where you can see it again. Figure from there. I woundn't base anything on what that rinky dink fuel sending unit reads. I figured my mileage towing on a 2100 mile round trip to Virginia. On three 45-50 gallon fillups ,milage was 10. 79,10. 80 and 10. 84 mpg. Nothing to brag about but it was consistant . That was towing 9000 # TT @ 65-70 @2000 RPMs... . You learn to pay very close attention to your mileage when your fuel sending unit craps out. ;) Running empty on the highway I get 20-21. Arround town 18 -19. Real numbers :D
