Getting ready for a road trip this weekend, I was wondering if anyone has tried the different EZ settings and if the MPG changed much on the highway. Its on the aggressive setting now and its great! I got a trip computer read out of 20. 1 MPG last weekend But i haven't checked to see how accurate that is yet I will today. Thanks for any replies

trip computer will not be accurate , and i could see an increase in mileage , put it on the mild or least aggresive , later the extra fueling comes in the better , i would think that on a long highway trip having it on the mildest setting , fueling over 20psi , will give you the best results .

Byou never know when you might come up next to a PSD on the highway lol. It takes me to long to get to 20PSI even with the EZ I imagine stock fueling would be alot worse and by the time the fueling kicked on it would be time to shift?? I think I will set it on the mild setting and see what happens. Thanks for the reply

I would like to know what you are doing by changing EZ setting. I have seen this several times in the post, but I don't know what it means.

Sincerely:

You can change when the fueling come in. The out of box setting is about 2PSI I think. The next jumper setting is 8 or 10 not sure and the last one is 20PSI. The different settings are supposed to help control smoke with large injectors.

I believe the settings for the EZ are 10psi, 15psi and 20psi. They are different than the DD True Torque Power Module.

I first tried the most agressive setting - power comes on fast, but, the way I drive, I had no increase in mileage. On the middle setting, I noticed a slight increase, but on the mild/least agressive setting, I noticed about 1mpg, with no change in driving habit/style - I drive it hard. Currently getting about 16. 5mpg with mixed driving (see set-up below).

Help me understand this... .

I have EZ, but no performance injectors. The EZ is set at 3, the most aggressive setting. I understand the other two settings are primarily to deal with smoking issues with hotter injectors.

I want acceleration/power first. I'd love to get some better mileage, but not at the expense of the performance. Is this the trade-off you face when going to a milder setting with stock injectors??

Thanks... . Joe

I tried the EZ on the factory setting and fuel mileage didn't go up, but actually decreased slightly. Right around 18 mpg, plus I didn't feel the drivability was there. I then tried the middle setting, fueling comes on about 10psi and the mileage is right around 20 mpg (19. 8 - 20. 3 consistantly). Feel the truck has better drivabilty set here, AND the trip computer is within . 4 of actual mileage. I've left it on the middle setting. The setting where fuel comes on at about 20 psi I would imagine you'ld get the best economy IMO.

I've got like 9k miles on the EZ/BD II's, with all three settings on the EZ... I don't see a mileage change in any of the settings. . As far as the smoke issue, thats another story. On #1, it smokes somewhat 'till uou get some air pumpin'... On #2 it smokes enough so's you don't want to take off very fast, and offend the snail darter group... #3... on fast takeoff, or even accelerating kinda' hard from low speed, you can't see anything but black smoke outa' the pass mirror #ad

LOL, that brings up a mean thing I did this week. I pulled up next to a BMW at a light on the left hand side and I was in the turning lane, and the car was going straight. So the lady had her window down and she had a friend. I looked over and she was making these "gesters" at me. So I leaned over and said "what", then she said "could you turn that loud rattling thing off", "Its very annoying" I was looking at her like OMG, you got to be kidding me. So I was a little pi$$ed off, because of this rich "prissy" lady said this to me that you can tell she always gets her way. Well Not TODAY. The left arrow turned green, I leaned over and yelled "my truck smokes real bad too" And with the EZ on the most aggresive setting and a gas peddle through the floor board, I think I got that beemer full of black smoke! By the time I left that intersection I couldnt even see that BMW, but I know it was in a big black cloud of smoke somewhere! Yeah it was mean but maby she will shut her trap next time.

I agree with RUNAWAY. Setting 3 is too sensitive to the throttle. I use #2 and I feel the driveability is better and you can better control the boost level which relates to when you get full fuel ie: 10psi on #2 and the end result is the mileage issue. I get about the same mpg as him on local combined driving.

JohnB... .

Could you please further define "setting 3 is too sensitive to the throttle"? I like throttle "response", i. e. , when I press the accelerator the truck "responds". Is that what you mean? If so,how does setting 2 or 1 feel different?

I'm still asking anyone, do you trade-off mileage for power/peformance at a milder setting than 3 with stock injectors??

Thanks...

Sky, now every time that lady see's a dodge she going to go bulistic #ad

that reminds me of when I had my last '97 2500. My nephew wanted to race me in his mustang. at the first light I was not going to do it and he took off. after watching him I thought to myself, yeeh I can beat him. so at the next light I floored it but he did not. end result was I filled his mustang with black smoke. He and I were laughing for the next few miles #ad
I was also running striaght 4" exhaust at the time so he also got an ear full...

I wish I could hear a 4" staight piped exhaust before i get the sawzall out. I do like the sound I have now though.

24V-DSL-----Sensitive throttle relates to very little throttle movement makes instant power. Rough roads and speed bumps at low speeds tend to make the driveability a bit jerky. There is no total power difference with any of the settings, and it is so easy to make 15 psi boost (where it will get full fuel if you ask on setting 2) that it is smoother to drive and easier to drive for mileage IMO. I also feel that it's a little easier on the drive train.

OK, OK - I've posted about my new DDII's about five times today cause I'm so excited... . But the smoker' thread got me thinking about the new "toy" effect that my truck has. I found myself driving down the local strip tonight giving my truck quick raps on the trottle ON PURPOSE to make little smoke tornados.

Does this make me a bad person? #ad

I think JohnB is right, as to the "jerkyness" of the throttle response in the lower gears and while traversing bumps in the road. I'm kinda used to it, my wife drove the truck for the first time the other night and it was like an "E" ticket ride a Disney world.

As for the smoke, it's a non-issue, I have plenty for one and all #ad
