Max Brake display failure fix

Fifth Wheel Jacks broken

Thanks, George.

Your summary above is very useful information for someone looking for a full time, all weather unit, new or used.

George,

I have had very good luck with Previx anti-virus software. I had a couple of issues with this PC at work and our company anti-virus software could not find the little varmints. I purchased the Previx on-line, downloaded it and it rooted the three culprits out in about 5 minutes. Liked it so well that I have bought it for my home computers as well. Worth a look.

I have yet to see anyone that I know have anything but trouble with Norton, BTW.

Mike.

Take a look into Zone Alarm Grizzly, excellent fire wall and anti virus.

DHayden, I found out that my internet provider, Quest has a free internet security, which is by Norton. I downloaded it and had it do a full scan. It found 76 risks and fixer them. I was impressed.

I have an older ('95) Nu-Wa Snowbird and live in it working away from home. It is far and away a better unit than my previous '87 Wilderness.

Definitely would buy a Nu-Wa again. My $ . 02

Thad from Ohio, I also live in south central Ohio. I have had good luck with Newmar 5th wheels. Unfortunately I don't have any ideaa where you are going to find anything for 8-14. I know a good dealer if you are interested.

One more thing Thad. Ditto about anything Forest River makes. They are all junk! Teton, NuWa, and Travel Supreme are also great units. Do your homework and I recommend extended warranties on RVs. Normally I don't but the warranty has saved me lots. Good luck!

SGT310, Teton, NuWa, and Travel Supreme and a few others are very well rated on RVCG. New Horizon is the best rated and is the only 5th wheel and TT with 5 stars.

SGT, It is obvious you have nor inspected not owned all of the Forest River products. I would agree that there is a large margin between the cheaper and more expensive units. We have owned a DayDreamer now for 3 years and have towed it from NC. to CO. to Arizona several times as well as to the Canadian border and back. We have had a few screws come loose several times and have had minor issues for three years. We now have it in the shop for some paint and actually major axle, suspension, tire repairs that Forest River is taking care of at their expense. These things will be outlined in a later post after all is done. We have been impressed with Forest River.

Even the best of tires blow out. This one blew out today just for NO reason that I can find. These are 12 ply 19. 5s on my front end of dually.

I am convinced that most RVs should have much better tires and higher capacity wheels and tires on them. These are tires I replaced on my first 29' Sprinter.

I'm not going to comment on the quality of your Forest River undergoing "major axle, suspension, tire repairs. "

The GY tire in the photo sure appears to have struck a road hazard.

We own a Mobile Suite with 3 slides, 2005 and have had very little trouble with it. We live in it full time and have enjoyed belonging to the Mobile Suites club. We are going to a rally in Colo. Springs in June and were at the factory durning a rally last summer. Factory is in Howe, Ind. and they seem to be a good solid company. .

I guess I want to say welcome to TDR, but I see you have been a member for 10 years with only your second post. Tell more about your truck and 5th wheel. Let us hear about travel experience. Have you been to Alaska?

Mobile Suite is a very good, 4 star rated 5th wheel.

This is my third dodge, I now own a 2008 white automatic six speed with exhast brake and it does a lot better job towing my5th wheel than my 2004 did. We have been fulltiming for 21 years and have traveled all over the country. Been to the ballon festiville but have never been to Alaska.

Go to Alaska. No place on earth like it, especially if you like wildlife and great scenery.

Did you like the balloon festival? When did you go?

Wow, 21 years as a fulltimer. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone with that many years of fulltiming.

Do you homestead in certain favorite locations or do you continually wander?

My 2008 dodge is a 3500. our first tdr rally was a Columbus, Oh. in 2000 I think and we went to May Madness in 2005. We live on our lot in a homeowners assoc. in Bowling Green, Fl. from Nov. 1. thru May 10 each year. Jim and Peg Anderson came to see us and decided they wanted to buy a lot so Jim comes comes every year also. He has tried several times to get us to go to Alaska with him but my wife does not want to get our home on wheels dinged up with rocks. She says the canadian rockies and Colorado mts. are great.

We had two tires blow out on the left side of our trailer last summer up in Michigan and the tread still looked almost new with no side wall cracks so I bought four new tires for $1200. Those G rated tires just seperated on me but did little damage. Both on the heavy side of the trailer. Next year I will rotatethem.

Bill, the Alcan Hwy is much improved and it's doubtful that you'll get your 5th wheel dinged up with rocks. Our last trip to Alaska was in 06 and we had no rock damage. Best time to go to Alaska with respects to weather and road conditions is in July.

There's a good thread on-going about trailer tires. Sound like the two tires that separated on you were ST. Beware of ST tires made in China.

When I made my one and only trek to Alaska in 2004 I was pulling a conventional Avion TT. I experienced no damage at all.

A friend and fellow TDR member who posts here made the trip last summer pulling a fiver. He spent a night in my "rv park" northbound and southbound after the trip. He didn't have any rock damage but the rough roads were pretty tough on his trailer.

I think I would prefer to tow a smaller conventional trailer if I was going again. An old Navy buddy made the trip the same year I did. He bought a 24' cheap box travel trailer put new tires on and packed the wheel bearings before the trip. He sold the trailer for what he had invested in it when he got home. He left his fiver parked and avoided any damage.

I know thousands of RVers make the journey successfully every summer with huge motorhomes and fifth wheels but the road probably stresses them pretty good.
