Better silicone turbo hose then the one I just split open w/pics

After going through 2 factory hoses off the turbo about 18 months ago I switched to a blue DPP silicon hose off the turbo. Tonight I split the hose down the middle as the turbo was loading up. It sounded like a shot gun. I am not sure if the hose was defective or it's life cycle was exceeded for my mods. Basically I run a TST on 4-4 and when towing I drop to 2-2. I put a Fass and AFE on about 3 months ago and 3 days ago I installed some F1 Flux 2 injectors.

The injectors have deffinately made a difference since I am still on the stock turbo and it loads up big time. The thing is the TST keeps the max boost the same, around 40psi. The hose blew in 6 gear going up a hill and the TST was on 4-4.

Luckily I keep a factory hose as a spare and I turned the TST to 0-0 so I don't blow this one.

I am looking for a better quality hose that will hold up. Really only looking for the turbo hose since I will be upgrading the innercooler soon and I don't want to waste $$ on hoses I may not be able to use.

I don't need to be stranded for something that is easily upgraded. I will have pics of the split hose posted tomorrow.

Thanks,

Aaron

WOW!

I believe I would not turn the TST above 2 on the tq side. You are fueling it really hard down below. Still cannot believe you blew up that DPP silicon hose. The stock turbo is not going to take this kind of work.

You might try Rip at Source Automtive. He would probably sell you just the hose you want. I got my hoses there. They are rated at 300#. If you blow that one, you got other problems.

Thanks for the links. Here are the pics.

That hose you have there is actually pretty good quality. However your problem is not the hose. The problem is that it is too long for the job it is asked to do. Also it has no re-enforcement to maintain the shape and integrity when loaded up.

Basically it swells when under boost and over time it fatigues and eventually fails.

You need one like this:

Simply measure the length you need and the diameter then check out Intake Hoses, IntakeTubing, and Intake Clamps click on silicone charge air hoses and select a size that will work for you.

Unfortunately, it looks like they do not have the size I need on line. I guess I will call them tomorrow. It looks like I need a 2. 75 x 7. 75 hose.

Your theory of the expanding hose is what I was thinking happened. It looks like it hit it's cyclic limit.

After talking with the guys that sell the CAC hoses I decided to go with 2 of there short hoses and a rigid tube. They do not carry the hose that I need, but can have it made. Since I am going to change out the turbo I'll wait before I special order something. I'll post a pic when I get the parts installed.
