Our A/C has totally failed for the third time. It blows, just not through any vents. Our dealer, Palmer Dodge, is unable to fix. The panel air (vent) has no air flow. They say those TSB's are worthless, they won't follow the TSB at all. I think I have the panel door problem stated in it.

These service departments are getting worse. I don't know what to do really, my next dealer to the north doesn't want to work on it. I'm going to try another dealer, I'm really getting tired of this truck fast. Its been in 6 times so far, the Air has never been 100% right. I've never found a dealer that just can't fix a simple A/C problem. Its just plain idiotic that a dealer would rather have a buy back than to just follow the TSB and fix it. I hate Palmer Dodge and the manufacture's attitude about the matter. Those help lines are helpless. It makes me want to do the lemon law thing, but I've put a lot of money and time in this truck.

Can anyone recommend a dealer in the Atlanta metro? I have the steering vibration, dealer refuses to follow TSB, I've learned to live with the droan, but, no A/C? I need my A/C. :{

Lots of others have had that TSB done! Whats with their attitude on following a TSB. The engineers are way lots SMARTER then THEM!!:eek:Try Hayes in Oakwood off 985.

If you go to another dealer, don't tell them the 1st dealer worked on it and it's never been right. DC only pays once to repair something and if they deem that it's faulty workmanship on the first dealer, you are screwed and will have no choice but to keep going back to that first dealer who doens't want to fix the truck.

My buddy is having this problem with his transmission right now.

Well, our trucks build up a "history". When a dealer runs your vin, they see whats been worked on. If another dealer won't fix it, then they can buy it back! 6 dealer visits is enough, I don't think Palmer will ever get it right. My dash has been apart twice so far.

Can you get compensated for accessory's for a lemon?

I really don't think its such a big deal to fix, the techs are just over qualified lube techs. They keep saying its out of balance even though there is a TSB on the "panel door". The truck is worthless without A/C to me. Palmer is very rude, I wish I looked up the reports on this dealer before purchase. My 98 was problem free, I never got to know the service department like I know them now. That 5 star rating means nothing in relation to service, it must be based on sales. You would think they would at least try to please a repeat customer who buys the most expensive trucks on their lot. This truck has every option, it was over $48K list. They won't get it again!

I was treated like a King at the dealer when I had my Caddy, which cost less!

They may very well not be able to get or keep good techs. Industary problem and has been more pronounced in the last decade. Try another dealer and if they fix it right the first time inquire to what and why then call D. C. and visit Palmer and rake them. Have you made a appointment and sat down with a MR PALMER without the Service Manager being in the room with you?Lots of OTHERS have had the TSB repair with NO problem.

MR PALMER is the problem. The guy cares very little after the sale. I talked to him once about my 98 truck problem when his service department refused to do a needed TSB. He tells you what you want to hear and does nothing. My sales man was Eric Palmer. Many of their customers get heated in the service department, I'm glad I'm not the only one... Misery loves company.

I've yet to find a good Dodge dealer north of Atlanta. I looked hard at the Fords because of the bad dealers. I like my Ford service department at Billy Howell Ford, great guys. I just couldn't do the Power Stroke, I have no complaints with the Cummins or the Dodge truck, just the sorry Dodge dealers. My freinds are having the same service problems with Palmer and other local dealers. One freind is having a dead battery every three months, two dealers can't fix it and its past the lemon law protection. :{

I hope the dealer in Cumming will fix it, I need the truck for a road trip.

Well then its not just Dodge dealers. Any one dealer can be good and bad over of several years. I'm familiar with Billy Howell and 4 or 5 years ago they had their problems also. I know for a fact techs let go elsewhere with problem were within days at Billy Howell. Stayed their for several months and had so many costly rechecks were finally let go their. Knew service writers who worked there that were trying to jump ship. But YOU are correct about most attitudes stem from the top. The area Palmer is in is very transient and I'm sure its a numbers only game to them. Grab it,sell it,slam it. I don't have a good answer for you other then trying to meet with a D. C. rep and telling him/Them this. Show them these threads/posts. I have in the past etc. The dealer I go to I like but we had a ISSUe over the pulls right deal. I printed a thread from here the other day and its on a desk there waiting on a D. C. rep to read it and discuss. But all the DEALERS have some problems(independents also,maybe worse)I think more so in big metro areas.

I guess its a 50/50 chance almost every where. Billy Howell serviced our Ford Lighting and solved some problems very well. Everything changes so much and so quickly, those techs may not be there anymore. At least with Palmer, we did get a decent loaner truck, a Ford SuperCrew... from a Dodge dealer.

Thanks for the replies, its nice to vent some. I plan on tryin again this week at a dealer in Cumming. The lack of A/C is rough with the temps now in the high 80's.

Well last year a number of techs including several MASTERS quit Hayes and went to the Cumming dealer. Stayed a few months and said it stunk their(didn't like service mgr. )and went back to Hayes! One who has 25 years Chrysler/Jeep experience didn't go back to Hayes but to the Roswell D. C. Jeep store. Grass always greener on the other side. He wanted to go back to Hayes but he's done this like 7/8 times in last 12 years. Someone their finally put a foot down and said NO. Its like a Peyton place behind the scenes. This activity dosen't always go on but seems to in cycles. It drives GOOD service mangers to drink and heart attacks! Folks have no clue to the bull in the auto repair end. The folks I know who own independents its just as bad. I would ASK to you have a TECH who KNOWS what he doing to work on this!

Please post your experience with the Cumming, GA dealer (Troncalli?). I need to get a few things dealt with. I was hoping I would not have to drive too far for a dealer that can actually service the Cummins.

Thanks, Brian

Good Dealer

I had a great experience with James O'neal.

Bremen, Ga. West of Atl. about 25 miles. They fixed my vibrating riders mirror, set the revs / mi. for my 315s and put on a bug deflector. Minor stuff, I know, but when I was there they had one car in the shop and the other 6 bays had Cummins Powered Rams. In fact, the whole yard is full of trucks. I think that's all the sell and service . ;) . The guys there are really nice too.

Take 20 West to 27 North about 3-4 miles. There on the left, bunch of trucks outside, can't miss it.

I've only heard good things about James O'neal Dodge. I almost bought a truck from them, seem like nice good ole boys.

We contacted DC again and they did something this time. I think the idea of a buy back didn't sound good to them. They want Palmer to fix their mess, I guess thats why the other dealers don't want it. Something about DC not paying for Palmers mistakes. Palmer Dodge's head service manager said the truck will be fixed tomorrow if they have to replace every component in the A/C system. I'll settle for air passing through the panel vents.

Eric Palmer (sales man) said the TSB's will all be done too. So, only time will tell. They refused to do the window tint TSB last time it was in for the A/C. Said it didn't apply, yet I have no felt on the front windows and I really would like to tint them.

I sure hope this will be the last visit to this dealer. From now on I'll go to the Cumming dealer. Their service people seem more informed than Palmer.

Truck goes in tomorrow morning. Oo.

Hi, call chry, in detroit and ask for the ph. # of the regional rep. for your area. Tell him what you posted here. I am sure that they will be glad to get it taken care of for you.

You must be kidding, been there, tried that. That is kind of like the old time ministers. You don't talk to God. Only they talk to God and then they tell you what he said. Same is true with the District Mgrs. At least in the Northeast. I'm lovin Georgia and plan to move there. Hopefully things are better there.
