Took my truck into Diesel Tech ( very reputable shop where I have had excellent service in the past) for a clutch & transmission. When I picked the truck up it sounded like a bad throwout bearing, rattled badly, service mgr said make a run & when you get back we will replace it so off I went. transmission did not shift well & would jump out of 3rd & 5th. Called Diesel Tech & they had another transmission & clutch waiting when I got back and put me straight into shop. Picked up truck & now had launch shudder & same grinding noise. Back to Diesel Tech & this time talked to the owner. He just called me & said another bad transmission & they are putting in another one tomorrow morning. These units were rebuilds from The Gear Centre. From past experience I was aware of their quality but did not know at the beginning of this exercise that the transmission would be coming from them or I would have ordered a unit myself from another supplier.

The Gear Centre 1st class prices 3rd class quality so beware in the Edmonton area#@$%!

have you tried letting them know how displeased you were with their product and inconvience? I will add them to my blacklist. thanks for the heads up

The saga continues, Gear Centre would not cough for another transmission. They said that the noise (sounds like throwout bearing) but is I am pretty sure a pilot shaft, would go away in 5-600 miles. I pointed out that I put 4,000 miles on the first one & 600 on the second one & the noise did not go away. SOB's stuck to their story so when I get back from this run will go to a lawyer. The Owner of Diesel Tech told me that he will source another transmission & put it in at his expense. Totally a class guy & the reason I always reccomend him to anyone that asks where to get honest, good repairs done. Also the reason I will not go anywhere else. Gear Centre also has class but it is mostly 3rd
