It seems as if there are a few threads going on about tires right now, and I thought would add my opinion. I am a firm believer in the ability and styling of the BFG M/T. Unfortunately, I have been through two sets and they have both done the same thing. They ride, perform, and look great for the first 25k but then they get a shake in them that will drive you crazy. I rotate every 5k and the wear looks normal on all 4, it even looks like I could get another 10k tops out of them-bringing total mileage to about 35k for a set. My pressures are 55psi front and 45 psi rear. The shake, I believe, is caused by them going out of round. I cannot find a complaint with the tires except for them becoming unbearable with good tread still left. I have been through 4 sets of the BFG A/T's on a Toyota with no problems. I am needing a new set of tires, but am reluctant to spend the $$$ on M/T K/M's if they do the same thing as the old M/T's. I am beginning to lean towards going back to the A/T KO's, has anyone else had their BFG M/T's do this?

I have about 30,000 on my first set of BFG MTs and I have had no problems with them being balanced. Mine are 33x12. 50x16. 5s and they have been the best mud tire I've ever had. The only thing I can notice is that at about 45mph slowing down from 60 they have a little hop to them but most bigger tires do. The hop goes away very quickly and has never really bothered me. I have a brand new set of the KMs sitting in the pole barn just waiting for the first snow fall of the year.

I just put the BFG MT's on my truck at 4400 miles, I love these tires!!

I got the 285's also, no hum, balance is perfect..... hope they stay that way. :)

I have had over 10 sets of BFG Radial M/T tires on various 4x4s I've owned (from 27 9. 50/14 to 35 12. 50/15 with different sizes in between) dating all the way back to 1980. I believe in all those sets of M/Ts the max. I ever received per set was 30-32k mi. (without running them completely out of tread... lagal depth of course).

My current set of BFGs are A/Ts... my first set of A/Ts ever! I currently have over 51k mi. on this set with scheduled replacement sometime in the early spring. I know one thing, unless you spend a lot of time off-road (seriously, I mean a lot), the BFG A/Ts are far and away a better tire! Period! You may or may not agree with me (I really don't care) although I ONLY owned BFG M/Ts contiguously for 18 years! That should be enough of a prequalifier.

The BFG M/Ts are excellent mud tires however, they do not work all that well on pavement. My personal observations on these tires: they are excellent off-road (they have saved my butt many times), they are also excellent in deep and/or fresh snow, they also work reasonably well in sand if you have wide enough M/Ts on a light to moderate weight truck, they do not wear well at all on pavement, and I personally think they suck in the rain (unsiped). Additionally, I think A/Ts perform better on icy roads than M/Ts (unless the M/Ts have been siped). One other observation, the M/Ts cup rather severely when used on pavement as compared to A/Ts... heck, my used M/Ts almost seemed like they were multi-sided towards the end of their useful life when I rotated them (rolling them into position to all four corners).

One thing is for sure, they are both excellent tires for their intended usage. :D
