BFG Mud-Terrains

Of those who run BFG muds, how do you like them on you truck? If had 4 sets on 3 other trucks before, but none of them had a 1000 lb. engine in them. Do they wear OK? Do they last long? I want BFG's but don't like the mild tread on the A/T's as much. Muds will make a lot better rooster tail. Any comments are helpful.

i have 35's on mine and love'm. i had 2 sets on my v-10 and got 55k out of each set (285's). i tried a set of 315's les schwab txr tires and they absolutly sucked!!! after 18kmi i traded them in for BFG's. IMO buy the M/T's. oh forgot to say that i have 36kmi on my set now and should see 50k.

DAN, i had aset of A/T years ago on a blazer and they did'nt last but only 20k+ish, i was'nt impressed with em. (A/T) i think the M/T's have a harder compound than the A/T's do but am not sure. i might also note that i've had excellent luck with flats with these tires as i spend lots of time in the mountains of idaho.

Although you asked about the bfg I bought a pair of Cooper mudgrips for the rear during hunting season. They say Mastercraft on the side,load range D. Looks almost just like the bfg, at 240. 00 out the door for the pair I didn't think I could go wrong.

The new KO and KM series tires from BFG seem to last a lot longer than they used to. I had both AT and MT years ago and both lasted about 20K miles. I have the AT KO now and have gotten over 50K out of a set with room to go further. The only thing to watch with the MT's is rotation, balance, and alignment. Once they start to cup it is nearly impossible to stop. Hope this helps.

I had 33" Mud TA's that lasted 19,000 miles. The All Terrians I replaced them with have lasted almost 40,000 miles. Don't get the MT's.

I've got a set on my 88K5 Blazer (and it actually weighs MORE than my Ram!) and I've not been all that impressed with the tread wear. I think I'll run with A/T's next round on BOTH trucks! I don't like the tread pattern on the A/T's, but I've got TSL Boggers for the blazer (my trail truck) and I think the A/T will be enough to get me in trouble with the ram. Heck, they can't be worse then what I've got on it now!

I'm on my 6th. or 7th. (can't remember which) set of BFG AT's. I've never got under 50K miles on a set and one set got over 70K!! As you can see, I'm sold on BFG's!! Yes, rotation and proper inflation is very importain with these tires, but isn't that so on any tire?

Can't give you mileage info, but I sure love the ride & drive of my MT's. Just put the new 33x12. 5x16. 5" KM's on about 3,000 miles ago. They ride and drive better than the off brand AT's that were on the truck when I bought it.



This is the first set of BFG's I have bought, but several friends and relatives just love them and keep buying more.

Thanks guys. For all you who advised me to rotate and check air pressure, don't worry, I rotate tires every other oil change (6000 miles) and check air pressure fairly often. No matter what I get it will be BFG's. I'm still leaning towards the M/T's. It's the best way to get traction in the mud. All I know is I have to wear these crummy stock tires down so I can justify buying a new set. They are made for the street, and the street only.

I have BFG MT's on my truck 2500 quadcab 4x4 and they've been a great tire. I got about 40,000 miles on this set and have 4 brand new BFG MT KM's in the pole barn. Mine are 33x12. 50x16. 5s and National Tire an Wheel has about the best price on them. When I ordered my last set the had free shipping on a set of 4 tires.
