Short Shift,

How do you mean " 285's work out very nice with the 3. 54's "

It lowers your final ratio at the wheels, at what point is this nice?

Tardog,

It makes the rpms roughly 18-1900 at about 65-70mph, which is pretty close to the optimum rpm's for mileage, comfort, and the power's right there.

The gear splits seem to be more convenient.

The mileage went up slightly, after calculating in the 7-9% error factor for going farther than the odo shows.

Also, having the 6 speed gives a gear for any speed while towing, so being taller on the tire isnt a problem. At least it hasnt been for mine running 18k gross.

Braking power is still fine, and handling is good. A definite improvement over the stock 245's all the way around. And gives a little more ground clearance.

My OEM tires are dead at 36,500. I bought Perelli Scorpions (load range E, 10 ply) for $550 installed, life time balance, 60,000 mile warranty and road hazard warranty. They have a softer ride (70PSI) than the Michelin. Hopefully this will be it for a while.
