Wicked wheel 2?

I have a 2006 RAM 2500 4WD. About 9 months ago the "wait to start" came on while I was driving. It beeped about 10 times and the light stayed on for 50 or so miles and went out. A few weeks later did the same thing again. This same thing repeated for several months, and the light always went out. For the past 2 months the light has stayed on all the time. Mechanic diagnosed it this past week as bad injectors and said I would burn holes in pistons and ruin transmission unless I had them changed. Has anyone experienced this situation? Truck runs fine, no skipping, etc. Possibly a little less power than usual.

The WTS light is a DTC that indicates too much fuel is bypassing somewhere. There are 2 places it can go; into the cylinder or thru the return or both. Not going to ruin the transmission but melting a piston will definitely impact the integrity of the engine.

Almost impossible to tell exactly where the fuel is going but if you have many miles on them the safest route is to relace them with new injectors and add a 3 um filter between the factory one and the CP-3.

Yes, I have the same problem. It started in January after having #2 injector replaced because it died. It's come on a couple of times since during deceleration.

It is associated with a flash that was done and does mean you are losing fuel pressure somewhere. It measures high pressure fuel pressure vs. set point on a decel when no fuel is required to run the engine.

My 2007, 2500 has about 179,000 miles on it. Does that fall into the "many-miles" category? I just replaced the clutch, $2300. After the injectors, what else can I expect?

It falls into the mileage area where injector wear can start causing issues to show.

Maybe. All the tools in the world will be no help if the tech does not have an idea what he is looking at, or, will even do it. The last time I asked a dealer for the test they told me they don't do them. They charge $800 to pull the injectors and send them off to be tested. Then if any are bad, you get to pay a whooping premium to have them install crappy remans.

AutoEnginuity software to do the contribution tests, fuel pressure test for return flow, and monitor a host of other things is about $450.
