BHAF and Filter Minder Question

Well, noticed something this past weekend that had not happened before.



I have a filter minder from a 2001 truck mounted in my air intake hose from the air filter. It never moved when I had the K&N filter with the stock filter housing. I recently pulled all that out and put in a Smokey mount with a fleetguard filter.



Towed the travel trailer down to San Luis Obispo last week and found the filter minder showing the filter was plugged. The filter only has a couple thousand miles and has not been in the dirt. Looks clean.



I reset the filter minder and it was ok before I left to come home. Just checked it and it is still OK. Does any other first gens have a filter minder and if so, has this happened to you? I think it was just a glitch but wanted to see if there have been any problems with others.

That's one of the objections I've always had to filter minders. I've seen some filters whos filter minder shows it is good that leave a vehicle gasping for air - and others that are just the opposite. I have always gone by a visual inspection or time.

You mentioned you headed down towards San Luis Obispo - I'm down in Lompoc, about 1 hour South of SLO. How far North are you? Maybe we can arrange a central coast BOMBing session?

I live about 80 miles north of San Francisco. My son lives in SLO. I know of 2 other 1st gens in SLO, one is a member, the other one I'm working on getting to join.



There is a couple of other members in the general area of SLO, might be nice to have a get together sometime. It's a little far for me to drive down just for the day, would need to schedule it in advance.

There's a couple folks here that I'm trying to join as well. Funny how many 1st gen's are out there when you're used to looking for them. I'll keep in touch and we'll try to set something up maybe in a few months. By then I'll probably have the transmission done, either rebuild the auto or convert to stick - I'm still on the fence... .
