If I was to take the filter minder from my stock air box, drill a . 750 in the end of a BHAF ( only place in the filter to fit it) would the vacume inside the filter be compairable to that of the stock air filter box, except with a bunch more flow? Seems like might be a good idea but I lost my vacume tester and slide ruler. Any ideas? brian

I was thinking about the same thing. My thought was a short piece of sewer pipe with the filter minder mounted in it. A couple of hose clamps on each end and we would be good to go. Then we would not have to drill a hole in the filter every time.

Been there, Done that......

4" ABS Pipe with a ¾" hole in it. I believe the coupler is what's called a clay pipe coupler. Has a rubber insert and a metal band around it with 2 hose clamps. Works great. I sucked down the minder to test it and it stayed overnight so I know it works. Even with 35# boost and the filter in for close to 5 months now in some pretty dusty job sites I haven't been able to make it move.

Garrett

This does push it back a little more so make sure you put some ¾" rubber hose over your air conditioning line to protect it.

The BHAF, when new, has the color of a new, white coffee filter. I will change the filter when the maximum boost reading drops or when it turns gray. I have never trusted the filter minder. Just my humble opinion.

I installed a filter minder in my Physcotty just like Garrett did on his BHAF, it has never moved even with 40 psi boost. A BAHF should do even better. The filter minder is such a simple device that it would have to be cracked not to work. Most of the folks that say they don't work have un-bombed trucks or don't pull a load. In those cases the minder doesn't move even with a stock airbox and filter until the filter is extremely clogged because the engine is getting all the air it needs.

Okay I have to ask a dumb question. My understanding is the filter minder is to let you know when the filter is getting dirty. With a BHAF why would you want it on? Couldn't you just look at the filter and tell? Again I mean no disrespect just wondering.

You can't tell a filter's condition by just looking at it. I've had tractor filters with dust extending half an inch beyond the pleats that work fine and don't set off the check filter light. Then again I've had the lights come on with just a fine coat of volcanic ash you can barely even see. A dirty filter actually filters better till it gets to the point that not enough air can get though.
