My initial impression was holy s#*@! The intake temp dropped about 3-5 degrees, turbo sings very loudly now and spools quickly too. EGT seems on par lower too. I can't tell exactly yet since I haven't towed anything yet. But overall it seems great!

Nick, did you get the 4" exhaust elbow from air flow systems? do you think 3 rubber 90's would work?

I really like your setup, very clean, and I want to do something just like or similar to yours. What kind of insulation did you use?

i got all my stuff locally, but airflow has the same parts there. the insulation is regular fiberglass heat wrap tape. i grabbed some scraps from work for this, but it looks like it is just fiberglass headder wrap.



as for the ° symbol, press and hold the Alt key, and while holding it, type in 0176 on the number keypad on your keyboard [not the numbers above the letter keys]. that procedure gives you the extended keyboard [or you could just go into character map under the start/programs/accessories/system tools - character map



these are my most used ones...



° = alt+0176

± = alt+0177

² = alt+0178

³ = alt+0179

µ = alt+0181

¼ = alt+0188

½ = alt+0189

¾ = alt+0190

The Wix # is 42790 for the BHAF. It will run you around $32 to $48, depends where you find it. I have a bunch of Outerwears Filter Covers on hand to go with that filter.

just for everybodys info... i have seen more than two part numbers listed for BHAF. i have been doing some research on them and here is info for two of them. both made by Wix for NAPA.



Part number FIL6637

4 inch inlet, 8. 5 inches round top and bottom, closed on opposite end and 12. 38 inches long.

wix says this one is 425CFM



part number FIL2790

4 inch inlet, 10. 5 inches round top and bottom, closed on opposite end and 11. 88 inches long.

according to Wix this one is 680cfm



just more info i guess... im going to call them now and see what the micron of filtration is...

NAPA quoted me $70. 00 for the filter. I found this site that has them much cheaper. www.fleetfilter.com.

GWBourne and I guess any one else.



These filters are actually manufactured by Donaldson. Both the Wix 42790 and the Napa FIL2790 are the Donaldson/Duralite B105006 which is the filter guys are using for the BHAF set-up. The Napa FIL6637, Wix #46637 is Donaldson/Duralite B085011 which is the filter the Ford guys use for the Tymar open air set-up. But just to ease your fears, the B085011 is listed as a filter for a Cummins application.

So is the 6637 also safe to use on our Cummins 5. 9L? That's the only filter my Napa shop has in stock right now and I don't have the time to handle this errand next week.

Yes, that filter will be ok to use. If I had not already ordered the filter every one uses for the BHAF set-up I would have gone with the 6637 filter you are looking at. It is smaller in diameter but will work just as good. I used one on my old power stroke in the ford version of the BHAF set-up.
