FINALLY got the Ol Smokey BHAF mount installed after waiting 2 weeks for the air filter. I went ahead and used the Fleetguard 19037, will try to find some stainless steel mesh and make a split inner screen. The filter was $34 and some change at the local freightliner outfit. This filter is HUGE!!

Was disappointed about one thing though - I took it for a spin and I still can't hear the turbo!:( I'm sure it is sounding off, I just cant hear it due to a hearing problem. Will need to take the wife out and see if she hears it.

Look like I may have picked up just a little boost, the lights on the boost gauge were not workink but a couple of checks with the dome light showed 25 PSI empty and for a short run. Seems to spool up faster, I'll see tomorrow.

Well, I guess I will add my two cents worth. I got my Old Smoky Mount installed last Saturday and I can hear my turbo whining, but I have a 14cm wastegated housing. If I disconnect the waste gate I can really make it bark back at me when I back off of W O T. Let me tell you a little story my independent parts store parts man told me while we where looking through parts catalogs looking at filter specks. He's about 65 years old(maybe older)and has been a parts man all of his life. He does out side sales on Wednesdays and sells lots of parts to the cities and the counties around here. One of the cities had a big truck that got water in the air filter. He was not told how it got water in the filter but he told me that it was a bigger diesel motor than ours. He said that when the filter got wet it Suck the whole filter into the turbo and right into the motor, outer screen, paper and inter screen. So I don't think a inter screen is going to do us any good if our filters get Wet. I went ahead and got me a pre-filter from Outerwear's to be a little safer????????????? Also I can get my truck to cool down at idle now to 300 deg. never could get it down below 400 before, well maybe down to 350 if I let it idle a loooong time. Also I notice I lost some smoke at W O T take off.
