well i made the switch from the stock box with the k&n filter to the bhaf and i must say that it is only a verry small difference in sound between the two. the k& n had been good,so ill see what works out better. now i need to get hold of a heat shield for it. what to do ? i cant seem to figure out what im going to use. larry b shield looks good but what about the others? like the 8" stove pipe or the l shaped one i cant seem to get a dealer or the template. any sugestions??

Here is the link to the heatshield. I cannot get the template to get up? Maybe it is my browser?

CFowoler,

I posted a similar thread on all of the this stuff in the Non-engine discussion area... . Here:

http://turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150853

I have done several searches on this. I am finding most of the stuff (links) I want to see are dead links and or the wrong type of shield. Hopefully someone will chime in with some help on the old links and or newer ideas... ...

It looks like the 90 degree shield is probably a better idea than the furnace duct. The furnace duct shield looks too close to the filter in some areas. It looks like that with the 90 degree shield the filter can probably "breathe" better? But that is a test for a dyno..... Looks can be deceiving.

litespeed shoot me a e-mail and I will send back the template for the heat shield that I believe you are looking for. I got it off of the old Dodge diesel data base website, but I believe they have sold to someone else or either merged with some one. And there link no longer get to it.

I've got both Larry B's heatshield (click here ) and the do it yourself shield from the old 3D website along with my BHAF. Overkill? Who knows, but cheaper than a cold air intake.

Larry B's looks good on the truck and is effective in blocking heat from the turbine. The template shield is effective in blocking hot engine air under the hood from getting to the air inlet. Some have drilled the firewall for more outside air, but mine is loud enough and I don't need any more turbo whine in the cab.

If you need the heatshield template, PM me with your email address.
