COPIED FROM ABOVE THREAD
i had this post on dtr - regarding BHAF IN AN '04
i have one on my 03 - the big donaldson B105006 (fleetguard 19037)
i'm sure the 04 are identical under the hood
i have it sitting at a 45* angle where the old airbox(block) was - used a 4" mandrel bent pipe - i shortened it buy cutting off the ends (of the 4" pipe) and clamped it place.
it's tight but it is functional - just sits in there
the good - it's a bhaf, flows upper 600ish cfm
the bad - hot air from the radiator blows on it, needs better "rain proofing" (outerwears.com)
alternative - i'm getting a scotty 3 from
www.westtexasturbodiesel.com - got a good deal from wttd
i wanted to go the the fleetguard AH 19004 which is a marine application BHAF that is the same size as the 19037 and is suppose to flow low 900ish cfm. but i still would not resolve taking a "hot air" suction from the engine compartment - so i went with the scotty 3. plus, the 19004 runs about $120, initially that wouldn't be a big thing but having to keep replacing the filter every "x" number of miles would have been a "bleeder" on the pocket book -- i don't like bleeders. right now there is no "hot air" problem as it is 20* here
my set up was not as extravagant as \\SOTSU!//s = less time, less labor and less $. i thought of something like \\SOTSU!// but i didn't like another full 90*bend and i thought there would be hood clearence problems as disscussed by \\SOTSU!//
