Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) BHAF question...

Frank actuall made a couple of the heat shields. He picked up some Aluminum @ the yard ... turned out to be old Stop signs.



Anyway, don't use it, it's a pain. It's hardened & snaps when you go to bend it.



The thickness is good though.

I had a buddy at a sheet metal shop cut and bend me one from plans I found here:

Click "download attachment" , print it off, and cut it out. The mounting holes didn't line up on mine so I'd suggest waiting to drill them AFTER it's been cut and bent.



I took him some mirror polished 1/8" SS but when I went to pick it up he said "That stuff was too pretty to put under the hood of that truck!" so he subbed some thinner brushed stuff. The thinner stuff "flops". I don't know if thicker material would do this or not. I had to fab a bracket to go down to the inner fender for a brace. Insulated the turbo side with some aluminized glass insulation from work. Looks and works GREAT!

Thanks for the link of that template. I`ll be printing that out soon and makin one up for my setup here...



As for posting a pic, if you can get it down below 32k, (try using MS Photo editor to decrease the image dimensions, or re-save as a higher JPG compression level) you can post it with the 'attach' command, while editing your post. Otherwise, you have to put the picture on a third party website, and post a link to it. If you dont have such a service available, pm me and I`ll get the picture a host for you...

Thanks for the plans BIGPAPA, it sure saves a lot of in and out adjustment time. I was just going to start with metal stock and adjust and fit. Now all I need to do is find some good insulation sheeting.

The insulation is probably over-kill. I just had some laying aroung and thought I'd try it. Although, the heatsield does get hot enough next to the turbo you can't hold your hand on it!
