Keep stock injectors for CO smog?

I am considering switching out my K&N for the BHAF. Does anyone have the part number for this at Cummins?



Also want to here any results on likes and dislikes of people who have switched to it.

Mine is a NAPA 2790 or 2970. . close



Any way the smoke is gone, 1 full second is off 0 to 60 and the best mileage so far is with it on.
 
Does the fleetguard AH19037 have the wire screen inside to keep the paper out of the turbo if it gets wet?



Im also thinking about changing from the re-0880.
 
I have run the Donaldson for a little over 25k miles and changed it when I did my 50k super service just for giggles. Turbo whine is less than w/ stock air box.

I have towed most of the 25k miles and has been in rain and snow with no ill effects to the paper media ( The low velocity air flow through the media does not destoy the filter ), I would not spend the xtra $40+ for the marine filter.

the BHAF is the FIRST thing you should do. It works excellent, is so easy to do, makes sweet music at no extra chage, and NEVER fails to impress anyone looking under the hood. I can't imagine anything being more efficient? I would like to find away to put TWO under the hood, but can't find the room!
 
Call Fleetguard if concerned.

After reading the comments a while back on BHAF being sucked iinto the turbo I called Fleetguard. They said the 19037 is a direct application filter for a Cummins C. It is designed to handle what ever comes into an airbox ie, bugs, snow, mist. It is NOT designed to survive being flooded or totally imersed like the Marine versions.



Unless you getting in some pretty deep wet stuff and you have a tendency to really mud up the entire engine bay you will most likely never get enough water on the filter to have the slightest problem.

Well Im going to give it a shot, filter will be here wednesday. I dont want to lose my turbo whine I love that sound!:D It sounds very good with the reo880 and the ring missing. Wife hates it though, but who cares cause im the one who put about 800 miles a week on. This is what happens when we go up large hills when the wife is in the truck :-{} :p
 
The BHAF is a great addition however its to big... (just my opinion). I found one thats 8" diameter and made of fiberglass so in the event it could get water soked it wont collapse and get sucked in the turbo. It has the same inlet size as the ah19037.

Don't worry about the water. You'd have to hose it down for it to get wet enough to collapse. I have over 10k on mine. I put in the 'Mallory' aluminum mount to keep heat and vibration from hurting it. The mount even clears my B1!. . I think someone is making a stainless version.



Just put it on and make sure you get the clamps tight. Its rated at 930cfm at 6" of water(very low restriction) and it holds three times as much dirt as your stock filter before being considered clogged. so with an air hose or shop vac it should be the last filter you buy for a while.

The info I have on the BHAF (AH19037) shows a flow rating of 687 cfm. But, the AFE Mega-Cannon has a flow rating of 820 cfm. So it looks to me like for the most unrestricted flow the AFE filter is best. If anybody is interested you can order just the filter (part # 60-90037) and hook it up like the BHAF. Cost is $65-$70 for the filter.

BHAF and MHAF (the 8" diameter version) are both "dry" air filters. I don't wish to start the "I Love / Hate my K&N" discussion again, but for those who don't want an oiled filter, the BHAF/MHAF are the way to go. I've added an "Outwears" water resistant cover to mine, to extend the life and give me some extra filtration.
 
For mounting just cap off the screws from the OEM box and lay it on the fender. Before I had the mallory mount I used a couple of big zipties w/the screw loops at the locks. Pun the loops on the OEM bolts and put a nut over them then cinch them down around the filter.
