My primary concern to the K&N relates to it's ability to properly flow increased volume after mods such as the Edge Comp, which also involves boost modification placing LOTS more flow thru WHATEVER filter is in use. My nearly brand-new stock filter, after installing tne Comp, caused my filter minder to register 2/3 restriction on a steep grade when I put my foot into the throttle to check boost and EGT - NOT reassuring!
While I'm sure the K&N will flow enough air to prevent that from happening again - and I'm not REAL sure if the restriction was the filter itself, or the stock airbox, so I have now drilled that to permit better flow into the box...

... I still am concerned that the K&N *might* be forced to allow more dirt passage thru it's element under extreme demand it might not be really designed for...
SO, as I posted in another thread, I'm doing sort of an informal test, where I carefully swabbed the turbo intake when the K&N was installed to see how much dirt the stock filter had allowed to pass in roughly 4000 miles or so, and will do the same after the K&N has been in about the same mileage...

As I posted up further above - I was able to see where fine dirt particles had been allowed to flow at a couple of points around the seal on the STOCK filter - so it's obvious to me they CAN all have problems - not just K&N!
