I'd suggest getting the aFe filter. It's smaller (takes up less space) and will last long-long time if you treat it right.

The BHAF models are much larger and have to be replaced every so often. I vote aFe with the outerwears cover. Blue is my favorite.

The NAPA (large filter ) is about 50. 00 and the aFe is about 80. 00

I agree with Scott. I had a BHAF installed and went to an AFE. Used an Old Smoky mount(Last one he made I think). I also have the outer wear installed. Filter has been on for over a year, still looks pretty clean. Took the outer wear off and washed it a couple of week ago, have not reinstalled yet.

Seems to flow more air than the BHAF but if it does it is not a huge amount more.

Is that an AFE oem style replacement or are you talking about a universal round filter from AFE? I'd be interested in an AFE part number for a round universal style which would fit the intake tube.

I've had Fleetguard BHAF's, Napa BHAF's, K&N and AFE OEM replacements in a 24V. AFE is by far the "quality" leader on look and feel.

I personally can't handle an open element paper filter (BHAF) with the possiblity of water destroying the paper and the turbo just feet away sucking in whatever gets in its path. Just a fear of mine when I had BHAF's.

The one that (most ) use would be the style that claps onto a section of 4 inch exhaust tube (the intake pipe). You can build one or buy the ASA intake pipe kit.

The number for grey is 24-90009

Yeller is 72-90009

The blue pre filter Outterwears by aFe is 28-10054

I believe that aFe has a factory replacement for the OEM filter too. But why would anyone want to do that. Git yourself the intake tube, or make one. You'll luv the sound!

I got my BHAF at CarQuest. Was a Donaldson brand filter when I got it. I used Bumpytrucks plans to have a local shop bend it up from aluminum. I then used fasteners from a racecar buddy to attach it with.

The fastenters are a half turn spring clip type of thing.

Sorta like these. Have a lower part wire clip that you rivet on the bottom of the aluminum.

Mine are button head though and work better than those setup for flush mount.

Thanks for the info, I would like to flow more air and get more turbo whistle at the same time. I'll check my Geno's catalog for the AFE, it mounts without the oem filter box, right?

It literally "hangs" from the intake pipe. The filter is very light and with the support of the brace under the inlet/intake pipe, (near the filter end) the filter is supported just fine. The prefilter helps keep it clean and sheds off water better. I ran ther aFe without the prefilter for two years or so. No problem of any sort. Just be sure that the underside of the filter will not rub the bracket the OEM filter box was suppoted by/to. I removed mine, as the engine moved on it's mounts, it was allowing the filter to touch a bit.
