Great link. Yes, for those who dont fully understand..... You cant allow more air flow volume without reducing filtration UNLESS you increase the volume mass of the filtration media. This is why the BHAF works. And also, the BHAF is not a "performance" product.

When I changed to a BHAF I noticed a small decrease in EGT's. And seat of pants power. But then the previous owner had put a K&N on the truck. I like the BHAF and in three years of use have had no problems. At each oil change I clean the Outwears and carry on. The filter minder has never moved.

Before I put it on I could suck the filter minder half way down without even trying

After a little of this and that on my engine I could do the same. I opened up the filter case with extra openings, and then removed the spacer tube from the wheel well and filter box. This helped more than any thing else, WHY? I don't know. after I had done this I and was not able to suck the gauge down as much. But the BHAF made the most difference. Plus it looks mean under there.

When I changed to larger injectors, the engine experienced very high egt's with the stock air box and filter, I tried one of the high flow/high performance drop in filters similar to the K&N but a cone filter and I still had high egt's. I replace the OEM air box with a BHAF and Outterware's Prefilter and experience a significant drop in egt's (still not all I needed). The installation of the Farm Boy Performance 5 inch tubo back straight pipe exhaust addressed the remaining egt issues and enhanced drivability substantially. Together they made a HUGE improvement. The BHAF has a HUGE increase in filter media surface area over the OEM filter. I would venture a guess as to something close to double the amount. Air flow performance should commensurately increase.
