With the BHAF Fleetguard number AH19037 what does it take to mount? I have searched but haven't found any installation notes. My guess is remove factory air box first. Hopefully the diameter of the filter matches the air tube so that you just insert and tighten. Here is where I am lost! Do you just let the filter lay there, twist tie it down, or some other home made bracket/holder. I would appreciate any help you guys could offer.

Thanks,

Dean

P. S.

Do I have the part number right?

Mine is just laying there. The intake hose from the turbo just slides over the opening on the filter and you tighten down the hose clamp. There are couple different guys that have made mounts of various types, I have been considering getting one.

As a word of caution, someone said in the other post on the filter that it was rubbing on there air conditioning line. I have not checked mine yet, but the fix was to split a piece of hose and slip it over the air con lines... You might read the post in the products forum, it is five plus pages on the filter and such.....

mounting tips

I recomend you buy a 3"PVC coupler. It will have the right O. D. to stuff down the inside of the neck on the BHF to act as a stiffener. I found that without the stiffener mine worked a little loose after two or three weeks. Also, if you don't like the idea of laying the filter on top of the studs left sticking up after removing the stock airbox, attach a plastic tie around the bottom of each stud to act as a spacer. Then pop the rubber grommets out of the bottom of the stock airbox and flip them upside down where the wide part faces up. Stuff them down on the studs. That will keep you off the ac line and the sharp edges of the studs. The filter is so big, the hood actually presses against it slightly so a hold down really isn't necessary.

I took a piece of plywood and bolted it to the stock air filter bolts and then screwed a LARGE hose clamp to it and the filter lays on the wood and is secured by the clamp. turbo hose fits right over the BHAF and mine hasnt come loose in 6 weeks so far.

Sorry guys! I just looked in the Product forum at the 5 + pages about the BHAF. To be honest I have never looked in there before and I hate that I repeated the same questions that had already been answered. Lots of good information and thanks for your replies. I am going to order mine tomorrow!!!!

Thanks again,

Dean

I finely got my Bhaf and I'm going to put it in tomorrow but don't know how to get the air box off the fender do those nuts unscrew or just pull off? I don't want to brake anything incase I want to reuse the stock setup.

Thanks

DarrellB, The nuts screw off and leave the bolts standing. What I did to prevent any wear from the bolts was took three old rubber shock absorber washers and slid on the bolts, mounted the filter, and used a black bungee to secure it so that it doesn't vibrate. I made a nice little heat shield out of light aluminum for the corner of the filter closest to the turbo. I really like the filter.

Put it on after work and just used the rubber bumpers from the stock air box to keep the Bhaf from contacting the bolts. I have a 24"x24" peace of stainless steel that I'm going to make a heat sheild with. I thought about taking the stainless and heating it up and bending it around a metal 5gallon bucket to make a sheild. If I can get it to work it should look pretty good. The filter seems to be a little better than the Napa Gold filter that I had in the stock air box but only time will tell.

Don't worry about the repeated posts the old ones get to much traffic after a while, I got mine and went to the ace hardware store and found some automotive type rubber bumpers that had a small hole in it and screwed them on to two of the studs for the factory box and rested the filter on it. With the turbo hose attatched it's pretty stiff but once you close the hood the hood padding will press slightly on the filter making it more stable, I've had mine on for 2k now and it's just fine, the only thing to remember is don't spray it at the car wash other than that the turbo will be a bit louder but now it will be unrestricted.
