I have been reading all the posts on BHAF and had a question. Is all that hot air under the hood really good for the turbo ??? I would assume that fresh, cool air rushing from outside would make the turbo more effective than the hot restrictive air from under the hood. And that filter looks like it is shoved under the hood even resticting it more. Wouldn't it be more effective if we found a way to filter some fresh air from the front of the truck going directly into a filter and then in to the turbo??? so when you are driving that fresh air is being forced in to the turbo. Again I am not a turbo expert but on cars it seems that all after maket filter systems seem to go outwards meaning "reaching" towards the outside fresh air. THANKS

BTW I run the K&N in the stock box and have no problems but always looking for improvement

Ive tried the BHF and for the cost of it, I am sticking with the k&n round filter. The paper probably filters better, but I really didnt see a diffrent to it compared to my k&n, and my k&n is reuseable.

I would read it if i could ever get my magazine:rolleyes: TDR had a mixup with my membership. Hopefully I get this magazine.

BHAF???

You won't get me to take mine off. It lowered my EGT's a trifle, knocked off almost a full second from zero to 60, Holds back better on compression, and gave me my first tank over 22mpg.

BHAF

I'll be keeping my BHAF. It lowered my egt's slightly compared to the Psycotty that I did have, also the combination of the Psycotty and a PDR turbo was too loud for long distance towing IMHO.

I just finished fabricating a heat shield for the BHAF:D

When I put mine on 4 yrs ago, I did a lot of pressure comparisons with a Magnahelic. Mine had 1/9 the restriction of the stock filter and box and I also discovered that the pressure under the hood is very positive - especially when the fan starts driving hard. I don't have an egt problem with all the additional air, even tho it's warm so I haven't thought it was worth the bother to get cold air into the filter. I'm sure it would be better but then I'd have restrictive ducting again! My last mod was the PDR 3k spring kit. The mod before that was the Twin Ram and that helped egt even more. One reason I tried the 3k kit was to get more fuel at the top end. After the Twin Ram I could barely hit 1200 near the gov cutout point. I have a PDR turbo coming and will see what that does. I'm guessing - more air/less egt. Craig

Craig,

Fuel & low EGT at higher RPM was also my goal. That is 1 of the reasons I went to the #4/4. 8 plate. According to TST, it is designed for gov spring kit auto pumps. It's got one wicked fueling curve. :D

No got picture Cooker. There was a post with a picture of the #5 awhile back though & it was similar. I'd like to hold them up side by side to see the difference. If you've seen the #11 or #8, it's similar in that it has the 'bump' in the low rpm range but is cut waaaay back in past the vertical on the top end.
