couldn't find the thread on the big honkin' air filter, so i guess i'll have to start a new one. btw, i'm still new, so be GENTLE. read the thread on big honkin' air filter(the one i can't find). got me to thinkin'--i had 2 new filters for the rollin' redneck residence in the shop..... sooooooo, this morning checked the inlet diameter of the BIG pleated filter, and it was ~4 1/2". the hose to the turbo inlet fit in nicely. oem air box is now gathering dust with all the other parts that have fallen off. the filter is 9" long and 30" in circumference for a surface area of 270 sq in. the k 'n n that i took out was ~9"X11" for about 100-105 sq in. i wrapped the filter end of the air hose with one round of duct tape and slid it into the opening, and then rtv'd the seam. tape is to be able to remove the rtv from the hose easily when it comes time to replace the filter. piece of tape over the hole on the other end, and presto big air tube, redneck style. the filter lies nicely on the fender well, held by a BIG wire tie. it all fits between the turbo housing and edge of the hood opening, and just behind the battery. since it is about the height of the battery, it clears the hood. TALK ABOUT TURBO WHINE... .....
btw filter # is Fleetguard # AF353K. sorry, don't have a digital camera yet, so can't do the pix thing. hopefully w/in the next week or so.....
