The motor on the back isnt so much a pusher it generates hydraulics to turn the rear of the trailer.

On most heavy haul trailers your are correct. However on the trailers they use (all custom built by them) the engines do push, even at highway speeds. I doubt you'd need 1 or 2 550hp cats to run a hydraulic pump. (unless that pump is huge :-laf)
 
Load King has built two 300' long trailers for the gold mines. Saw a video, and the blueprints of them, too. Absolutely unreal.
 
i saw the first one pictured... it was pickin up a fully assembled CT gas turbine system from a company that builds them... it was really cool to see that thing going thru town... .
 
I saw a rig like that on the Steese Hightway north of Fairbanks AK at about midnight in Aug 2001. I assume that it was going up to the oil fields.
