I think I'll put a Moparguy BHF on my truck too!

I need to know one thing though.

When yall order from a Cummins shop/store is the NAPA number still a valid product number?

Thanks,

MerrickNJr

When you order from Cummins its a fleetguard, the # is AH19037.

Hope this helps.

Finally got mine in.....

Boost seems to spool up faster. EGT's dropped some.

I added a piece of 4" ABS pipe to the end of mine. Used an ABS coupler with two straps (the rubber kind that has a stop and metal all around for the straps), 4" is the same size as the filter opening. The existing hose from the turbo fits over the ABS pipe. I then drilled a 3/4" hole in the ABS and took the stock filter minder and put it in the hole. It should work great, it may take a long time for the filter to get dirty enough to see if it pulls:D :D

I picked one up from NAPA # 2790 A-159 this afternoon for 47 Bucks, Cummins wanted $ 43 and I would have to drive 150 miles round trip to pick it up, so for $ 5 more I got it right now, and will put it on in the morning.

Update . Installed filter and road tested over 400 miles. Miles per gallon up from 17. 5 to 18 . 3 ,but I've really been pushing it hard. Also NAPA matched the price that Cummins had quoted of 39 plus tax ended up 43 bucks Has anyone compared the Scotty air to this filters preformance. TIA ,Tom

I installed my "Moparguy" filter the other day, it replaced my KNRE0880. I did not notice that much EGT drop (maybe 50-75 deg) but I did notice a huge noise difference. The new filter cut down on the turbo noise a bunch. That coupled with the non oiled filter is a big plus to me. Thanks Mopar guy.

Need to fix my sig. .

Thought I would mention that I ran through rain heavy enough to darn near take the paint off the other day. Filter stayed high and dry.

I pulled the most weight yet today since putting the filter in. Only about 3 or so tons but max EGT was 1200. This is on a hill where EGT's would just keep climbing till I backed out of it. This weekend I will be grossing around 20-22k. Should be interesting. If there is a down side to this filter, I have not found it yet.

Geno's Exhaust Blanket????

Does anyone think there would be a benefit from using the blanket. Keeping some of the heat off the filter? Keeping hotter air from it?? And last but not least any alternatives that are cheaper???

Hey Beast, that's not a bad idea. I always wondered if there might be a practical application for the blanket besides just looks.

Installed the TST #11 plate Saturday all went well and then the test drive, what a dog, this thing was awful. Back to the shop figured maybe have to slide it forward a whole lot when one of my friends mentioned that maybe the boost line to the AFC should be connected. Now it runs great, whatya mean ya gotta hook up everthing. Very nice power increase but EGT would hit 1450 real easy in 4th gear around town. Sunday morning I installed the BHAF (big honking air filter) now EGT will hit 1450 but only at top rpm on the hiway with room to run, wont go over 1200 around town. With the #11 plate I had medium smoke driving a little briskly but not hard and with the BHAF I have no smoke until I hit it pretty hard. BHAF is well worth the money. Even with the YAHOO #11 plate I just got the best around town mileage ever for this truck, 18. 6mpg with maybe 80 miles highway driving.

Thanks MOPAR GUY for doing the research. YAHOO fun truck.

Lower Noise!

Ok JR2, I'm dipping into the wallet in the morning. :D That's the reason I took off the 0880, too much noise. :(

air filter

I have not used any other air filter but stock before the big one. I can tell you that stock filter would let the egt go to 1200-1500 and i would have to back off. With the big one it never and i mean never gets over 900. I pull a 28 ft 5th wheel and a 18 foot boat behind the 5th wheel and egt were a problem but not now. I would like to have a box for it maybe some valley tin around the filter will do the trick. :D :D :D

Anyone been able to find out the efficiency (micron ratings, cfm air flow, etc) of this filter yet?? I notice there are a few different filters which all cross ref the same part number (NAPA, Baldwin, Wix, Fleetguard/Cummins) Anyone know if the filtering ability is the same between the different brands??

A very early post mentioned Fleetguard has a few different filter medias. I assume this filter is probably just "basic" filter media. The post said the part number for the filter in this topic did not cross reference to Fleetguard's better filter media filters. How about a filter with similar dimensions made from Fleetguard's better media? Might entail some time looking through a Fleetguard catalog comparing the filter dimensions. Sounds like a good research project, any takers?

If I'm looking at the picture correctly, the back end of the filter... . closest to the firewall... is closed or plugged off? What is holding it in place to keep it from bouncing around?
