Moparguy;

Thank you!

I ordered mine from NAPA today at 49$ I'm hoping mine does even half as good as yours! I owe you a Beer if we ever meet! :D

Thanks man, Josiah

My local napa wanted $52. I called a local medium duty/heavy duty truck place with the fleetguard number and they ordered one in for $34. 95 for me! :D Thanks a million moparguy - this is exactly what I've been looking for. I can peg my 1500 degree egt gauge at any time within 3-4 seconds when I'm hot rodding and have been searching for a large paper element to use to help cool things down. I didn't want to go with an oiled element. I'm going to build a heatshield/airbox out of aluminum that will attach to the stock airbox bolts for it. I'll post pics when I get it done.

JRE Cold Air Induction???

Does anyone know if this monster filter will work with the JRE Cold Air Induction? Let me Steve how your custom heat shield works.

Thanks,

Eric

Will this thing filter as good as stock or an Amsoil even though it's not in a filter box? I travel gravel roads quite a bit and was just wondering as this does look pretty good. Thanks,

Doug

I just got off the phone with Fleetguard. I was checking to see if their AH19037 Air Filter is available in their upscale OpenFlow or Magnum RS filtering media. A few steps up from just regular paper filtering media. I'll have to call back to the tech line tomorrow. I will post any new part #'s if they have them. :)

HEMI®Dart is using good logic on checking the options.

X-10 jogged my memory. A big one I forgot to mention is that the filters used in tractors & heavy equipment is usually designed to work in conjunction with a prefilter. With the surface area of this thing a foam prefilter sock shouldn't make it suck, so to speak and I would highly advise it.

Paper filter media replace the original oil bath filters many years ago. They are simply more reliable. When a dry paper media is dirty you loose performance. When an oil bath is dirty you can loose an engine. I'm not saying either is better, just which will give more consistent results for the everyday CTD driver.

Installed Pic

Just installed mine today. Looks great, no real data yet, but here's a pic. Install took about 10 min. , I took out one of the rubber fasteners that hold the stock airbox on and removed the rubber washer from the threaded part. I inverted the rubber and reinstalled upsidedown. I put the new rubber stand on the rear inner (I think) stud. The Filter rests on this rubber stand instead of on the threaded stud.

Good job Moparguy.

Josiah

This setup is exactly what I've been looking for as well.

Thanks!!!

Steve, keep us informed on the heatshield. I'd be willing to give you a few bucks for one if you'd consider making an extra.

I talked to Fleetguard this morning. No-Go on the Openflow or Magnum RS filtering media on the AH-19037.

Me and Eric are have Ted J's heat shield. Do you think the filter will still fit ok?

Example below: #ad

HEMI. it would be tight. If you can drill new mounting holes to move the shield nearer the turbo, gaining a little extra clearance, then it might.

HOLY SHI# is this a big filter!

I just put mine in tonight. MAMA MIA!

------------------

Here is how my conversation with the NAPA guy went today:

ME: I ordered that filter last night, did you get it from the warehouse?

NAPA GUY: Yes, I’ll get it. (He brings a huge f#$%^n box back)

ME: Wow!

NAPA GUY: What are you putting this in?

ME: My truck.

NAPA GUY: What kind of truck do you have?

ME: Dodge 1-ton.

NAPA GUY: No.

ME: Yes.

NAPA GUY: No.

ME: Yes.

NAPA GUY: No way.

ME: Yeah, really. I’m putting it in my truck.

NAPA GUY: No

ME: Yes.

…He finally let me pay.

Anyone look into or have more info regarding JohnE's concerns about the prefilter or sock? Is there any technical data available air filters such as a micron rating or some other means by which we can compare filters to one another? Anyone know what difference is between the Fleetguard AH19037 which is the cross from the NAPA PN and marine version referenced on the Fleetguard page, the AH19004? The Product Comment says its for marine applied Cummins B & C series engines. This looks pretty cool, may have to be my next bomb but being cheep like I am I will have a hard time parting with my existing stock element with less than 2k on it. OK, I lost the diff cover OE lube in about the same time frame. Maybe I'll get it done before the Texas Rally in September and give it a good shakedown on the road trip.

I have BIG ??? for U guys...

As anyone checked the Micron that the filter will clean??? LOTS of JD filter systems are set up with 2 air filters. . we have a filter inside a filter... (but I have almost never replaced the inner filter. . I think its more of a saftey filter. ) other than that the set up looks great. . Anybody know what JD it fits or what the JD part number is??? If we can get a JD part number. . I'll check and see what we can do about the price of the JD filter. . but just like to know how well it is cleaning.

Here's a scary thought.

So what if you did build a dog house over the filter, leaving the bottom open. Cut holes below it in the inner fender. This would allow it to draw cool air & would be quiet in the cab! It should be dry because of the plastic fender insert.

What do you think?

$39. 95 here, I believe. I'm thinking of bringing a few to the Tx. Rally in case anyone wants to put one on after checking mine out :) I looked for micron ratings at work but they don't list any for any of the filters. I didn't have time to call tech service. Try getting a micron rating from K&N, though LOL :p I can tell you this. I dug around in the filter book. There is no saftey filter listed for it, which didn't surprise me, the pleats on this thing are huge, I doubt I will have to change it for years. From what I could gather about it, it's a set up designed by Donaldson, appearantly used in various applications. For those of you who might be  why there's no specific application given, let me explain it this way. I know alot of farmers around here who use industrial 5. 9 Cummins for irrigation motors. Every one of them has a different kind of air filter set up, just depending on the specific company that set up the system. I have a feeling that is the type of industrial set up this filter is designed for. Oh yeah, there was no foam pre-filter listed for it, either. Hope this helps.

Ordered mine!!

Ordered mine yesterday from a Cummins-authorized local shop... $38 for the Fleetguard! Should arrive Friday or beginning of the week... . oh, and while I was there, I ordered a 5" chrome stack, and some cool exhaust stuff... . YEAH, BABY!!!!!

Marine application?

Hyde brings up a good question. Are the filter requirements less stringent for a marine application (where there is little or no dust)?

I spoke with a friend of mine that has considerable marine knowledge after I posted. He said that many boats have no air filtration or a spark arrestor at the least. With that being said it's probably safe to assume that we should stay away from marine air filtration products.

Ordered one yesterday from Cummings Northwest here in Anchorage for $42. That sure beats NAPA at $60. Well report when it goes in (two weeks for delivery and then it has to wait for me to get home from work).
