Manual Trnasmission Filter Kit From Geno's Questions

Truck: '01. 5 ETH/DEE quad cab shortbed 4x4 with 86k miles (original VP44 and lift pump, as far as I know). I've heard that my risk of losing a pump is going to be less with injectors than with a box, due to how the fuel is delivered. So my question is - can you run big injectors, like say Mach 4's with just a boost fooler, and then wastegate the turbo at 38 psi or so, and if that would be okay, would I still need a FASS?

Would I be safer to just go ahead and replace the VP44 at the same time, since she's already got 86k on her? Any advice?

I'm currently getting new wheels and tires, and should have a new clutch to handle the extra power in two or three weeks. Just planning power mods for after that. Thanks, everyone!

I think that larger injectors are by far the way to go. I think that you only need the box if you are running a large turbo. The box will help getting the turbo spooled. :)

Thanks for the help, Chipstein. Also, the other plan may be Mach 6's, no box, and JR's HX40/55 hybrid. Any thoughts? Stock pump be okay for now, or do you think that'll burn it up (assume I add a pusher pump)?

Ask some of the injector dealers

I would call some of the injector dealers. They would know optimum/max injuectors on non-boxed appilcations.

Personally, I would go with DD2s (or comparable) and a TST Powermax or Edge fueling box. You just can't beat the modified power curves fueling boxes provide, IMHO.

While you COULD run the 150+hp injectors with no box, I'd say it's less efficient to do so.

You have to keep in mind the overall package. Mach4s alone will give you a decrease in driveability compared to slightly smaller injectors and an adjustable box.

There's no reason to replace a perfectly good VP44. If a vendor told you that, I'd never buy from them again!

Sure, you could run Mach 6s and a boost fooler and a single turbo. But you'd have a smoky, HOT EGT mess that was more frustrating than fun.

Don M says twins only for Mach 5's and up. I'd say Mach 4s are best with twins too. There are guys on here running Mach 4s with single chargers (a full B1), and they have EGT problems and smoke issues. If you live in any kind of alititude, forget mach 4s without twins. The Mach 3. 5s are enough fuel for 500hp with a single charger, and might be the way to go for the short term until you have some twins built.

I guess I am in the minority because I feel that injectors only work best. Back when I had the stock HY and the DD3 and the Comp I would run the 3 with the Comp off. I liked the power delivery much better then with the box on. I realize that most people who get the boxes and injectors are looking for that "seat of the pants feel" that a box gives you but the power delivery is much smoother and easier on the clutch and drivetrain then with a box.

i agree ... injectors only are much nicer to drive than box+injectors

much nicer application of power ...

having said that i wouldn't be without a drag comp

for those special moments with your durasux and powerjoke freinds :-laf
