hey guys i have a 2005 3/4 ton ram stock aside the fact that i straight piped it completely, no muffler and no cat, and ever since i put the turbo gauge in it around 8-9 thousand miles it was putting out 23 lbs of boost. I now have the truck at 19,000 miles and its pushing out 34 lbs of boost. Its an automatic transmission but is it supposed to take that big of a jump in boost in just 10 thousand miles, or is it maybe a bad boost gauge. I mean i know the boost is supposed to get better, but this fast. If it is supposed to make that big of a jump can i expect more jumps like that or no. I have no idea and would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

driving habits change? boost is load dependent. the more load, the more boost at a given rpm [read: more fuel in @ same rpm = more boost]. 34psi is in the normal range for a 600 engine. it makes that right out of the box brand new.

so either you had something plugging your map sensor in the manifold [carbon, gasket, ???] limiting what the ecm saw boost wise [which limits how much it can fuel] or you had a leak in your boost gauge piping, or you changed your driving habits

I mean i know the boost is supposed to get better, but this fast.

:confused:not sure what you mean by this though:confused::confused:

torque converter

looking for a good torque converter for my dodge which brand should i use also, not looking to buy the most expensive.

Some one told me that the more miles you put on your diesel the more boost you will get over time with the miles. I thought it was true but if i'm wrong please tell me.

Stock boost on mine was/is upper 20's--28-29. Can't remember for sure 'cause the "0" setting on the Juice still does boost fooling. I've never seen boost #'s go up with time other than mods being added. Never heard of that before. Ya might have a "funny" gauge.

Not sure mine has ever hit 34. 33 pretty easily with the Juice, but my Autometer gauge goes to only 35 and it's never been pegged.

I can see you getting a SMALL amount of boost increase as the engine gets broke in by the bearings of the turbo wearing in and finding their happy place, but not to this extream. My guess, unless you have noticed a difference in how it drives is that there was a either a kink in your boost line ore your guage was out to lunch. Other than that, your updated numbers sound right on par for the truck you have. Sorry I can't help more.

P. S. - Next time go with the bigger gauge. IMO, its easier on the eyes to see a gauge in the middle rather than peaked, and if you upgrade either turbo or fueling box that gives you more boost you won't be off the scale. I won't buy anything showing less than 50lbs. My 60lb Di Pricols are perfect as I am at 52lbs boost at full tilt. Gotta think ahead. the 35 and 60 psi gauges were the same price I think. Just food for thought.

Yeah i bought the 60psi gauge cause i planned on beefing it up so i thought ahead on that one. But what is the cheapest way to build boost for no seeing that i'm not able to afford much like a chip or anything like that or of that price range even.
