Am thinking about them & was wondering for the people who has them would you get them again? Any good or bad experience.

I am assuming that you want them for your 3500, it dose'nt say if it is a dually or not. I had a friend that put a set on his 04 3500. First he had to lift it, adapters, then wheels and tires. He was running a 3. 54 ratio from stock. Could not pull a trailer until after he changed to a lower ratio. It would run about 1900 rpm at 60 in 4th gear,so he got great mileage as long as he was on real flat ground. Finally changed to either a 4. 56 or 4. 88 ratio and got a little power back. By the time he got done with everything he was into it over 10k. The truck did look cool, but it did'nt do everthing that he wanted to. Finally sold it for what he had in the lift and tires and bought a 2000 dually 4x4. I ask him if he would do it again. A single NO and thats all he would say.

be best to get a set of 8 lug 19. 5" rims with 225 or 245/70R. -19. 5. . its what I use to tow my heavy 5th wheel. . I have the stock 3:73 gears with the Auto... . I use an "F" rated, 12 ply tire from Michelin... Right now I have the 245 but want to go down to a 225 to keep about the same diameter as a stock tire..... The 12 ply is Stiff, but not too bad. . rolls well, lasts long.

I am considering the 19. 5's and have been for quite a while. I don't like the idea of the adapters for the 22. 5's. Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread but i'm interested in what people have to say on this subject as well.

The most Gawdy thing I have ever seen is a truck that had 24. 5" on them. . Big air lift and such. .
the first 3 are from a TDR Rally in 2005. .

The last one with a big mudder tires is in 2008... . Look how tall the trucks are to the people around them. !!!

Anything that reduces the ability of a vehicle is dumb in my book. Lowering a car so much you have to 3-wheel crawl into your own driveway? Dumb. Stretch and poke? Dumb. 37" lift on your 2wd driveway queen? Dumb.

I seriously considered going to a 19. 5 on my 2500, but then I thought 'what good is it having a set of tires that will last 150k miles if I'm only driving 15-20k/year and the tires will rot out due to heat/sun/UV within 3 years?'

Since I'm moving back to WA (from FL, where tires go to die), I may consider it again when I need tires again.

I personally love mine. . I would do it over again. . I had 4. 10 gears to begin with. . Fuel milage is right at about 19 with hand calculation. This is my view of the 22. 5 conversion.

drawbacks:

time it takes to pull off and polish the wheels

Speedo re-calibration

(may need to trim up the front fender, IDK as I have aftermarket bumper)

tire drive noise

Initial cost... but it pays off in the end. .

Advantages:

looks

tire life (I have 70K on mine and they are not even half worn)

the ride is not any worse or better than before with stock, its about the same.

fuel costs have dropped for me

accessability to undercarriage and ground clearence

Just a few things I have thought of. I am sure you're going to get different opnions on this subject. . but its really what YOU want to do. .

Idle about 22. 5's it would seem to me a lot of work and money for very little if any gain over 19. 5's commercial tires vs. Lt tires I can see some advantage, and for some probably worth it. In the end though it really is a matter of what you want.
