i was wondering if any of you know of any forums that are for big rigs performance, racing, pulling and what not?

also if you are bored, have the time, or just want to. can you tell me any interesting stories, how to's, pros/cons, anything you know or have heard about the 400 big cam and it making power or being used.

also i am in the thinking out stage of this, but a pete or a kenworth 85-90. what to look for and what to look out for. i think it would be a cool post navy project, and i have nothing but time to plan things out right now. i dont really know what i want to use it for, but if i could keep it as a multi functioning vehicle that would be cool. you know how we do with our rams... . drag race, pull, and daily drive type deal. i dont know this is the very very beggining of this for me. thank you and have fun with this. Nick

Hey Nick,

Deo (TDR member 'therabbittree') and I are constantly discussing how we want to have a class-8 truck to play with in the future...

I'm not trying to talk you out of it - but it's not exactly the same as playing with a pickup truck. They're a whole different beast...

What may cost $40 on a pickup will cost a LOT more on a Class-8.

If you're willing to pay extra for parts and normal maintenance - then you get to deal with the rest of the issues... like insurance, fuel consumption, local regulations/registration, red tape, etc.

There's a TON of nice older trucks out there - and I'd be the first one in line to buy one if there weren't so many drawbacks.

Heck - Deo even knows where there is a Kenworth with a KTA-600 under the hood... it is taking every bit of restraint he has to not go out and buy it.

Matt - I'd be dangerous if I had money. :-laf

i would imagine there is a lot of horsecrap as well as numerous other species of crap involved, like you are saying. the potential is huge. if nothing else i would love to add some details to my fantacising :p i am planning on making diesel engines my career, so i will need to keep that fun side them going strong to prevent me from burning out. or at least it sounds good in theory. i mean everyone needs a class 8 company truck ;)

so if anyone has anything let go with it.

and wouldnt we all be dangerous if we could afford it... ... heck look at us now ;)

There is a 1000 hp KT-600 powered 77 KW for sale in Lancaster :) Truck is kind of rough, but motor has $30k worth of parts/labor in it, plus it has mahogany (spelling?) floors :D

Fuel Pressure is quite easy to turn up on any PT pump equipped cummins (such as the BC/400) but it MUST be done with care...

Here's some pics for ya to check out, it is our school diesel club's B model mack with a twin turboed HEAVILY HEAVILY fueled Mack E-7 E-tec. Head is fire-ringed, comp valve springs and retainers. The injectors we're using look a lot like shower heads... Twins aren't on yet, but they will consist of a stock EGR E7 VGT turbo feeding a MONSTER One off holset we had donated. Anyway, here are some pics pages
