Big Single or Twins?

Thanks, TDR Staff

i want a good transmission and torque converter

Larger primary turbo for SPS62.

Put on the three piece manifold and HTT 66/14 truck runs real good but still can get the EGT's up to 1500 real quick lots of black smoke till turbo spools. I'm going to check timing on Monday planning on starting @ 18 degrees. I didn't think I'd be able to get the EGT's up till there was a trailer behind the truck. For a quick recap #10 plate, 4" exhaust, AFE intake and stock injectors... timing unknown

What about a pro 52 as a primary? never seen one ,I know it has a bigger TO4 flange. It rates at 1200cfm a htb3 only good for 1100. somehow some have goten this thing to spool as a single so I think it would be deadly under a s300 or varient.

There are a couple of problems using it as a primary.

1. It has a fairly tight non-WG ex housing

So you would need to put an external wastegate in between the two chargers

2. The price of the 52 versus thte price of a BHT3B or "B2" is much higher.

Both of these problems lead to a fairly expensive set of twins.

They would be neat but they would cost a good bit more.

one other problem... what pressure ratio does it flow that 1200cfm at? if it's a really high pressure ratio, you're going to have to run a huge wastegate and basicly end up with a semi-sequential setup vs. a true compound setup.

Hey guys thanks for stealing my thread. . BTW... . I've decided to go with the 62-14 since the 66 is so unhappy... . the 66 is in the classified

For towing you would be making a very good choice using a Super Phat Shaft 62/80.

#1 Less money than twins.

#2 Very good hp, will make up to 600hp

#3 EGT's are lower by 300deg.

#4 Easy installation (Drops Right In)

#5 Wife or girl friend lets you go fishing more because you saved more money.

#6 Free T shirt with every turbo purchase (Got Phat Shaft)

Thanks

what is the main differences between the super phat shaft and the Htt 62... I'm talking turbine wheel size and compressor design? has there ever been any true testing done?

This is a good thread to piggy-back this question on.

I am preparing to do a "budget" set of twins with my PDR HX40 or a 35 and a 3B. Mine won't be for towing so much like towner needs.

My question is regarding injectors. I have the 370s, but they have a lot of miles on them and I'm getting tired of the haze at idle. I'd like to upgrade after the twins are on to take advantage of the new air supply.

Can anyone provide some suggestions based on personal experience? I've heard of the DD 3's and 4's, and I think Don M at F1 has something that will work. But I haven't found any discussions focusing on injectors with a twin set-up like this. I'd like to hear from someone who is not trying to sell me something.

Thanks in advance,

-Jay

BTW: towner, how'd yours turn out?

I'm considering budget twins too.

I have a hybred 35/40 with a 14 cm wastegated housing.

I still have the 12 cm. housing collecting dust.

All I need are the rest of the goodies. .

I don't have a 12 valve, but I got my twin setup from Rip at SourceAutomotive. He has kits for 12v and 24v trucks with 35 or 40 on top and an S400 on the bottom. He also has kits that will work with S300 variants.

Might be worth the call. A small set of twins will out tow a big single any day. I have first hand experience with that one.

I've got a Dodgezilla/B2 setup w/ seriously low miles for sale if anybodies interested in them. They'll make for a really nice setup - everything included.

I don't have twins but I can tell you the Dynomite Diesel Injectors injectors are top notch and much better than the crappy/dirty old 370's. The problem for most is they are not cheap like the 370's but you get what you pay for. I know I am happy with my DDP4's :D

So Cooker, you're running the 4's with a single turbo (which one, by the way)? That would imply that they work well with your fuel/turbo/exhaust combination. It seems to me the 4's have also been mentioned as being used in twin set-ups. That would confirm they are a good, all around injector with a broad application range, which is what I'd prefer.

How's the smoke and haze at idle and under hard acceleration? I've also heard DD 3's and/or 4's can actually improve mileage a bit (assuming you have control of your foot!) over the 370's, due to the perferred spray angle. Any comments on that?

Thanks,
