Big DQ---Since you live close to me--

Do you know where I can find a muffler shop (locally_ that can build 4" exhaust for my 97?

I can buy a 4" muffler from Summitt for about $35. 00 I can't find a shop to weld up any 4". most muffler shops only have dies for 3".

Does anyone have any ideas for muffler shops in the St. Louis area?

Thanks

Kurt,
If you can wait a short while, I am going to pull mine out to replace it with a 5" system. You could use my system, which is 4" from turbo to tailpipe.

Im thinking about a 5in also . saw some one on here that had one I think they used 90s to go over the axle. How are you going to do yours?

Big DQ--

That will work. I appreciate it. I'm glad I didn't order any parts. I almost stopped at NAPA and ordered a walker muffler and etc for a 3" system today. I nearly gave up on a 4" system because no-one will work with 4" locally, and my welder is not available.

However, I talked with John Brockfeld, at Warrenton Tire & Muffler today and he mentioned your exhaust. I asked him about 4" and he said that I would have to piece it together, and he thought it might be pretty pricy.

Thats great timing, because my stock muffler is about to fall off, its getting pretty rotten.

Just let me know when you are ready. I'll e-mail my phone number to you.

Thanks,

Kurt K

I went to Napa here in town, and bought straight pipe, some 45's, A 90 and a reducer to go from 31/2" to 4". then I took it to a friend at Warrenton Tire and Muffler, to have it all welded together and installed. We took the old system off, all the way to the turbo, cut the downpipe as close to the turbo as we could, then started cutting and fitting from there. the system exits in the stock location, using the stock tailpipe. The only drawback to these systems is, you can't carry your spare tire under the truck any more.

After posting, I realised it was not the exhaust, but the oversized spare(315-75r-16) that won't let me carry it under the truck.
