I found a set of 191 delivery valves for a decent price but after reading a few posts about them, their performance and possible mileage drop, I am hesitant to buy them.

I have the stock 181s right now in the 215 pump, so are 191s really going to make that much of a difference? Depending on which fuel plate I choose to go to in the near future(most likely a #4, #5, or my custom #100) I will most likely be upgrading my HTB2 to the 64mm compressor or even the SP66 compressor. So with those added bombs, would the 191s be a nice touch to the mix?

Let me know what you 215 pump'd guys have to say about the 191s

Thanks, Joe

I really can't help you on the 191 delivery valves. I have a set of 022s i got from BPonci and DDP stage 4 ingectors fueling a Sledpuller 66. As far as mileage goes, if I can make myself drive the truck somewhat normal and obey the speed limit it gets excellent fuel mileage. Just took a trip to Arkansas last week running 80+ at times and going up and down some serious hills and still averaged 20 MPG. :) The delivery valves seemed to help the topend the most. By the SOP meter it is a noticable improvement. The bottom end is extremely smokey with anymore than about a half inch of throttle travel. I did advance the timing some more and took away some of the smoke. I got mine set at about 18 degrees right now and seems to work well. Tightening up the AFC preload also helped the smoke and response. I can't see how a set of 191's will hurt your performance or MPG. Go for it. :D

your truck already has 181's. if i were you id jump to the 022 instead. cant imagine much difference between the 181's and the 191's. i just installed mine and gained better power in the midrange. egts are a joke

There is allot more power from the pump prior to changing DV's, they will add a little power but will suffer with more smoke.

With that 62 wheel turbo and EDM's..... who's... and a #5 or #6... . because they work good, I don't see 500+ as being an issue.

Brad Ponci and I both have put a stock 215 pump to the 650-660 are with a little bigger injector and Twins, Brad's with 191's mine with 181's..... FYI!

The 500hp mark wouldn't be an issue. It will be on the hot side but achiveable. The 191s over 181 will yeild you about 6 to 8 psi boost increase. The 022s will give you 10 to 14 psi over 181s and the l/c will be about 18 to 25 psi. The larger the dv the lighter your foot will have to be to drive clean. These are my results in testing at my level. Hope this does help in making you decision. Remember that your fueling level of your pump will give different results. These #s are just for a reference.

Thanks Brad, I shouldn't see much more boost from my current level of about 40-42 with the new dv's unless I tighten up my restrictor to the wastegate some more.

Where can I look into some laser cut dv's or these 022's you speak of? Would it be better to find some of those rather than the 191s? Price-wise I am looking at about $250 for the 191s, what do 022s or laser cut run?

Anyone got a #4 or #5 plate I can buy or borrow?? :-laf

Joe

For me, adding the 191s, felt like it did when I installed the #10 plate alone (stock position at that time). Quite a bit more smoke on the bottom end, or if you drop the hammer after a shift with little to no boost. Bought mine lightly used from a fellow TDR member. He said he lost mileage with them, and didn't like the smoke, but I saw no difference in mileage, and I like the smoke for tailgaters. No need to "aim". I can blackout both lanes of the road at will. :D :-laf The smoke is controlable with the skiney pedal.

Only problem now though, is I need more turbo. Hittting 45# boost.

My truck with stock 181's dynoed the same time as someone with 191's, my timing at 17 his at 19. all other mods and the pump (215) the same. mine 448/1004, his 436/960.

My advice Joe is skip the DV's. You'll never be able to fully use/burn all of that fuel in a 215 pump. I speak from experience as I have that setup, and its WAY more fuel than a big single can burn and keep in safe EGT range.

Someones paying way to much for a set thats on ebay right now... Wonder if this thread has anything to do with it??

Yeah, thats me that is looking at those valves. Did someone bid higher than $260 yet? I haven't checked Ebay in a couple days. I didn't think that was too bad a price when it started @ $230. I am hoping someone will out bid my $260 bid, if not I guess I will live with them and go from there.

Joe

Can always withdraw... They started at 230 Buy it now was 240. piers is 250 for 191's and 260 for laser cuts. Havent checked in a day or 2. PS that guy lists them all the time, always starting at 230. Sometimes they go off with no bids... .

i had ran a set of laser cut DVs. they kicked my from 45psi not waistgated to umm well the needle was trying to come up the other side on my little 40psi banks gauges... :) (waistgate blocked Via Vice Grips)
