I want the biggest tire that can possibly fit on a stock rim. Something like 38s. What brand offers this narrow of a tire? Is there military tires anywhere like this?

Discount Tire can get these tires if they try for you. I had them quoted at something like $320 a tire about a year ago. Supposedly there is a problem with these tires sealing around the bead. They have some military bead that needs a special 16" wheel. At least that is what I found doing some research.

Make sure you check the rating of the tires and compare it to what you'll be doing, most of the 1100/16 military tires have a top speed rating of 50-60 mph and won't like hitting the highway at 75 mph.

That's usually on a vehicle that weighs two or three times what the Dodge weighs. Highway speeds shouldn't be a problem. The 245/70-19. 5 Michelin's I used to run had a speed rating of like 60 mph. I did 70-80 on them all the time. Never had an issue.

Sam's Club/BFG's

I went to Sam's yesterday, and looked at tires they had or could get. BFG 285-70R17 MT's!! (pm me for price). I wonder if they will fit on mine. Probably not. I wonder if 265 70r17's will. They appear to be a little taller than 235-80R17's. I had 255-85R16's on my '01. 5 2500, and TIMTOOLMANTAYLOR had exact same tires on his dually.

I'd like to know how large I can go on the 3rd Gen DRW trucks.

I've seen 315's on a 3rd G Dually with a 2" spacer. The spacer is overkill and causes the tires to stick way out, but you need that much because of the style of spacer used. With the 285's, you may only need 1/4" - 1/2" to make sure they don't touch, especially with a load. Jumbo Jet has 37's on his dually with 2" spacer (I think).

Spacers

I'm trying to not use spacers. I doubt I'll get any anytime soon. Usually one can get 60k miles out of a set if they are rotated regularly.

If I sell my Goodyears, I'll get a set of BFG MT's.
