Competition Big Single's what's a good choice

Competition Piers, Thanks For The Great Head

Good info.

Occasionally I pull a loaded gooseneck, so I don't want to take

any shortcuts with tire spacing, load rating, and questionable

wheel spacers.

My steering is a little funky. And my front end is a little clunky. (craphouse poet) So I have to get under there and check the track bar. I will definitely be buying the gearbox support bracket.

In issue 42, p. 138 there was a photo of a 3500 belonging to a Scott Walker of Davidson, MI. I spoke w/ him over the phone & he has 305/85R16 Denman Coyotes on his truck w/o any difficulty. These are 36" tires. He did have leveler coils on the front of his 3500, but the tires will fit w/o them w/ minor inner fender contact at full lock.

These Coyotes are narrow tires, but I'm not sure they are still available. We are putting them on our 2002 2500 w/o any lift as soon as my 305/85R16 Radial Buckshot Mudders come in for my '71 Chevy. The Denman's are designed for a narrow rim if you can locate any.

Our Coyotes are pretty quiet even w/ the studs & are a Load Range E tire. They're rated at 3640 lbs single/3305 dual.

305 with levelers! AND they're load range E. That's probably the

max size without flares or a lift. Now I know how big I could go.

I checked out the spacers on performance wheel. They don't offer

spacers for the 3500 ram.

I just talked to performancewheel.com on the phone and their website is under construction. They do offer dually spacers out of 6061 billet aluminum. The 2" spacers are @ $95ea. and 2. 5" @$125ea. I beleive "ynot" has a set for his truck but are 1. 25 or 1. 5". I have 255/85 truxxus radials on mine know and definitely need the spacers to put chains on the back.

ToolMan Tim, correct me if I'm wrong. I had these tires on my 01 2500. They are load range D, but in dual they are rated at 2700 lbs. Thats 10,800 lbs that the tires can carry. Um, that seems like a lot to me! Single they are rated at 3,000 lbs, which yields only 6,000 lbs carry capacity.

DTroy, how much do you need to put in there?

SOLER

Yep Soller's right they are D's. and 10,800 is a Lot of capacity.

However DTroy You want to run e's so you can carry your rated max but are willing to put spacers on?? One post says no the other yes I am waaay  If you want tracton for snow and such Floatation (Width) is your enemy. With my setup I pulled (Read Dragged it thru the snow) a sled trailer out onto a Vast snowmobile trail (Don't Ask) and made it out alive LOL!

just incase anyone wants to know denman is making that tire again and they maid plenty,im putting them on my dually ill post next week to let u know how much room i had without epacers

hey toolman,i dont have a pic yet,i am going to petros wed the 9th and he is going to order them. so then a few days after then when i get up there to get them on. im just hoping that i wont have to space the rear wheeels. i dont pull a trailer its just a driver for me so as long as they have a little room id live with it,or run a small spacer well see. i just like the idea of them being 36 in tall since i have 411 gears. ill get back with ya.

yea need a pic quick i just had to order new tires because one of mine is starting to seperate if i can get those denmans on there i will cancell my order.

i ran across a truck last nite on here,a 3500 with them and they fit but im not sure how close they are. you can get them at national tire and wheel(1-800-847-3287 extension115) they are 169. 95 apeice. the part # is rv-coy-11r. i talked to them today and im ordering them wed,he told me they had over 200 sets at the factory. i live in indiana near indianapolis in a town called lebanon and he told me that shipped to my door from w verginia would cost 1151. 02,i also found out this is the only place to get them unless you are a dealer for denman. ill keep everybody informed, its just a pain to get large tires for a dually, and i just dont care for all the spacers and ford wheels on my truck... . chow

The Cooper 255-85-16 should fit. They are about the narrowest in that size. I know some others put the sidewalls close to each other even unloaded.

hey tim, jegs sent my d-25 coils today(no shipping charges) and my tires are on the way . i should have the coils in by tuesday and the tires by thursday if everthing works out, by the way u have to use nat tire and wheel in wv to get the tires, denman told me that ntw was the reason that they started back up so they made ntw the only place to get them, but they do have plenty so order up boys.....

hey tool if u want the # it is 800-847-3287 ,and just to confirm it is 10 ply e rated, and they priced them at 169. 95 apiiece. also i got my coils friday and i should get them on today or tomarrow, and rodney has not called yet so the tires should come in by tuesday i hope, but soon as i get them on i will post pics for u to see, and let u know how it went.
