I always thought the fine people here on the TDR were a cut above the rest, now I know! Scott came to my rescue.

When I installed my guages last year, I had some trouble tapping the exhaust manifold for the pyro probe. I didn't get a good set of threads cut and the probe has been coming loose and after I tightened it a few times, the threads are junk. I figured I would buy an ATS manifold to fix it. But, with Xmas coming and my wife seeing the recent bombing receipts(Piers BD brake, Jardine 4"), I was on thin ice so to speak.

I remembered the "pay it forward" thread from awhile back where Scott offered up his old manifold since he had upgraded to the ATS manifold. I emailed him to see if he still had it. A week later it was on my doorstep! He wouldn't accept any money for it and shipped it at his expense.

Scott, you are a standup guy and I hope I can find a way to return the favor to you or another TDR member.

I have lost count of the number of times being a TDR member has saved me time and money.

Thanks again Scott

That's great! :D It doesn't sound like you need to now, but you can probably salvage your old manifold with a locking thread insert. ;)

Rusty

Rusty, I thought of that. But when I was tapping it the first time, the tap wouldn't make a decent cut. As I was tapping the hole, the metal seemed to ball up and crumble instead of cutting a decent thread. I wonder if I had a bad casting from the start or it could be that I just don't know how to run a tap. Either way, now I can just swap it out because the one Scott sent me is allready tapped. I have a friend who own's a machine shop and he'll fix it right for me and then I can pass it on to another TDR member if the need arises.

It's always nice when a member can assist a someone else. I'm sure Scott would consider the debt paid when you can help someone else later on.

I look forward to meeting Scott someday. I've talked to him on the chat room before, and he really seems like one of the true good guys. :D :)

I have personally known Scott for the better part of a year now, and if you are impressed on the net, you're seeing only a shadow of the true article that exists in person. I've spent some time hanging with him, and he's a blast. People like Scott come down the road once in a lifetime. I'd go out of my way to bend over backwards for him also!

I have found that the majority of the folks who hang belong to TDR are stand up folks. Very informative and always willing to help.
